Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude is a paid Masterwork Research story that rewards an encounter with Shiny Shaymin.
The research returns during the Ultra Unlock: 10th Anniversary Edition event in July 2026, giving eligible players another opportunity to unlock the rare shiny Mythical Pokémon.
Unlike Timed Research, Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude does not expire after it has been added to your account. However, players must purchase the ticket and open Pokémon GO during the event period to receive the research.

- Open the Pokémon GO in-game shop.
- Find the Glimmers of Gratitude ticket.
- Purchase the Masterwork Research.
- Open Pokémon GO during the Ultra Unlock event.
- Check the Special Research tab.
- Confirm that Glimmers of Gratitude has appeared.
The research should remain permanently in the Special Research tab once it has been successfully received.
You do not need to complete the first stage during the event.
However, opening the game during the availability window is essential.
What Is the Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude Reward?
The main Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude reward is an encounter with Shiny Shaymin.
Shaymin is a Mythical Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region.
| Reward | Details |
|---|---|
| Featured Pokémon | Shaymin |
| Form encountered | Land Forme Shaymin |
| Shiny guaranteed | Yes |
| Pokémon type | Grass |
| Mythical Pokémon | Yes |
| Tradable | No |
The Shiny Shaymin encounter is guaranteed after completing the full Masterwork Research.
Players do not need to rely on random shiny odds.
Is Shiny Shaymin Guaranteed?
Yes, completing Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude rewards a guaranteed Shiny Shaymin encounter.
The research itself may take a considerable amount of time to finish, but the final shiny reward is not random.
This makes the ticket different from an event that merely increases the chance of encountering a shiny Pokémon.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Is Shaymin guaranteed? | Yes |
| Is the Shaymin shiny? | Yes |
| Can the encounter flee? | No |
| Do shiny odds apply? | No |
| Must every task be completed? | Yes |
Special Research encounters do not normally flee, allowing players to take their time when catching Shiny Shaymin.
Can Previous Ticket Holders Buy It Again?
Players who previously obtained Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude cannot purchase the research again.
This applies even when the research returns to the shop during a later event.
| Player Status | Can Purchase? |
|---|---|
| Never owned Glimmers of Gratitude | Yes |
| Previously purchased the research | No |
| Currently completing the research | No |
| Already caught Shiny Shaymin | No |
| Missed the original release | Yes |
The returning ticket is primarily intended for players who missed its previous availability.
Owning a different Shaymin research story does not necessarily prevent the purchase. The restriction specifically applies to players who have already received Glimmers of Gratitude.
Does Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude Expire?
Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude does not expire once it has been added to your Special Research tab.
Masterwork Research is designed to take a long time to complete.
There is no requirement to finish every stage before the Ultra Unlock event ends.
| Research Stage | Deadline |
|---|---|
| Purchase ticket | Before the shop availability ends |
| Open Pokémon GO | During the Ultra Unlock event |
| Receive research | Before July 27 at 8:00 p.m. |
| Complete tasks | No deadline |
| Claim Shiny Shaymin | No deadline |
This gives players the freedom to complete difficult objectives gradually.
However, you should still confirm that the research has appeared before the event finishes.
What Is Masterwork Research?
Masterwork Research is a longer and more difficult type of Pokémon GO research.
Unlike ordinary Special Research, Masterwork Research often contains objectives designed to take weeks or months.
Previous examples have required players to:
- Catch large numbers of Pokémon.
- Earn high numbers of experience points.
- Reach certain Trainer levels.
- Catch Pokémon on multiple days.
- Complete Platinum Medals.
- Walk long distances.
- Catch Pokémon from specific regions.
- Make Excellent Throws.
- Complete daily objectives over an extended period.
The exact returning Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude task list should remain the same as the original version unless Niantic announces changes.
Players should expect a long-term challenge rather than a research story that can be completed in one afternoon.
Can Glimmers of Gratitude Be Completed After the Event?
Yes. Once Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude has been received, it can be completed after the Ultra Unlock event.
You can continue progressing through the tasks during future events and seasons.
The July 27 deadline only affects the ability to obtain the research, not the time available to complete it.
This is particularly useful when stages require rare Pokémon, specific medals or extended daily play.
Can You Get Shiny Shaymin Without the Ticket?
The returning Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude ticket is the confirmed method of obtaining Shiny Shaymin during the July 2026 Ultra Unlock event.
Players who already completed the research may already own Shiny Shaymin.
Those who do not purchase the ticket will not receive this particular Masterwork Research.
Niantic may offer Shiny Shaymin through another event in the future, but no alternative free method has been announced for July 2026.
Is Shaymin Good in Pokémon GO?
Shaymin has two forms in Pokémon GO:
| Shaymin Form | Type |
|---|---|
| Land Forme Shaymin | Grass |
| Sky Forme Shaymin | Grass/Flying |
Land Forme Shaymin is primarily valuable as a rare Mythical Pokémon and shiny collection entry.
Sky Forme Shaymin has stronger offensive potential and can be more useful as a Grass-type attacker, depending on its moves.
However, the main appeal of Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude is the guaranteed shiny Mythical encounter rather than gaining a leading raid attacker.
Can Shiny Shaymin Change Form?
Shaymin can change between Land Forme and Sky Forme in Pokémon GO after the relevant requirements have been unlocked.
Form changing may require Shaymin Candy and Stardust.
| Form Change | Possible? |
|---|---|
| Land Forme to Sky Forme | Yes, when unlocked |
| Sky Forme to Land Forme | Yes |
| Shiny status retained | Yes |
| IVs retained | Yes |
| Level retained | Yes |
Changing form does not remove the shiny status.
The same Shiny Shaymin remains in your collection with its original IVs and power level.
Can Shiny Shaymin Be Traded?
Shaymin cannot be traded in Pokémon GO.
Like most Mythical Pokémon, Shaymin is locked to the account that earned it.
This means players cannot trade for Shiny Shaymin if they miss the research.
| Action | Available? |
|---|---|
| Trade Shaymin | No |
| Transfer to another Pokémon GO player | No |
| Use as a Buddy | Yes |
| Power up | Yes |
| Change form | Yes, when available |
| Transfer to Pokémon HOME | Subject to Mythical transfer rules |
Because Shiny Shaymin cannot be traded, Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude may be the only practical way for an eligible player to add it to their Pokémon GO collection.
What Happens If You Forget to Open Pokémon GO?
Purchasing the Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude ticket may not be enough by itself.
Players must open Pokémon GO during the Ultra Unlock event to receive the research.
To avoid problems:
- Purchase the ticket.
- Restart Pokémon GO if necessary.
- Open the Special Research tab.
- Check that Glimmers of Gratitude appears.
- Complete or claim the first visible interaction.
- Take a screenshot showing the research on your account.
Do not wait until the final minutes of the event.
Opening the game early gives you time to contact Pokémon GO support if the research does not appear correctly.
Is Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude Worth Buying?
The value of Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude depends primarily on how much you want Shiny Shaymin.
The ticket is likely worth considering if:
- You collect shiny Mythical Pokémon.
- You missed the original research release.
- You enjoy long-term research challenges.
- You want a guaranteed shiny rather than random odds.
- You understand that the tasks may take months.
- You do not expect large quantities of premium items.
The ticket may not be worthwhile if:
- You already own Glimmers of Gratitude.
- You are not interested in Shiny Shaymin.
- You dislike long or demanding research.
- You expect to complete it immediately.
- You mainly want raid passes or incubators.
The guaranteed Shiny Shaymin is the central value of the ticket.
Any additional item rewards should be treated as secondary.
Glimmers of Gratitude Versus GO Pass Deluxe
The Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude ticket and the Ultra Unlock GO Pass Deluxe are separate purchases.
| Feature | Glimmers of Gratitude | GO Pass Deluxe |
|---|---|---|
| Price | US$4.99 | US$4.99 |
| Main reward | Shiny Shaymin | Additional pass rewards |
| Research type | Masterwork Research | Limited-time progression track |

| Reward claim deadline | None | July 29 |
| Golden Lure Module | Not the main reward | Included in rewards |

Players primarily interested in a rare Pokémon may prefer Pokémon GO Glimmers of Gratitude.
