We know it isn’t the be-all and end-all of The Sims 4, but building your dream house is something every one of us has done at least once while playing, and learning how to rotate objects in The Sims 4 can change the look of any area.

If you don’t want to live your life in one direction, you might need to know how to rotate objects in The Sims 4. This includes chairs, beds, plant pots… Anything you can put down on your Lot, there’s no limit to the possibilities when using your imagination. Here’s everything you need to know on how to rotate objects in The Sims 4.

How To Rotate Objects In The Sims 4

First things first, you need to be in Build Mode to rotate or move any item in The Sims 4. We know this seems like a simple thing to mention, but people can move and rotate things in real life without any sort of construction. The Sims in The Sims 4 aren’t quite there yet…

Once you’re in Build Mode, there are three ways to rotate an object. These are:

Select the item with Left-Click, then rotate it 45 degreed clockwise with Right-Click.

Select the item with Left-Click, then use the comma key ( , ) and full stop key ( . ) to rotate it clockwise and counterclockwise

Switch to The Sims 3’s camera settings by pressing CTRL+Shift+Tab, then hold Left-Click on an item and hold the ALT key. You should now be able to drag your mouse to rotate the item smoothly.

We know rotating objects might seem like a simple task, but it isn’t one that The Sims 4 tells you about openly. Each item often comes in a pre-determined position that doesn’t always line up with how you want a room to be laid out. It’s worth noting that you cannot use the “Right-Click method” explained above if you are already in The Sims 3’s camera settings in-game.

If you’re playing The Sims 4 on an Xbox One or PlayStation (or a next-gen console via backwards compatibility), you can rotate it clockwise by hitting RB/R1 and anti-clockwise by hitting LB/L1. It’s a lot simpler.
