Halloween: The Game Early Access begins September 4, 2026 at 9:00 AM Pacific, giving Digital Deluxe Edition preorder players four days with the game before the standard September 8 launch. Early access is not included with the $39.99 Standard Edition.

When Does Halloween: The Game Early Access Start?

Halloween: The Game Early Access starts on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 9:00 AM Pacific. The same global unlock model is used for the standard release, so local start times differ by region rather than every country waiting for midnight.

How Do You Get Halloween: The Game Early Access?

To get Halloween: The Game Early Access, you need to preorder the Digital Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition costs $59.99 in the US and includes the base game plus additional characters and cosmetics. The Standard Edition costs $39.99 and follows the September 8 launch instead.

The important part is the preorder requirement. IllFonic’s launch FAQ says preordering the Digital Deluxe Edition grants access to the early access period. Buying the Standard Edition does not unlock the September 4 date.

Can You Buy the Deluxe Edition After Halloween: The Game Early Access Starts?

Yes. The current launch information says you can still purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition during the Halloween: The Game Early Access period and gain access before September 8. Preorder bonuses remain available until the standard game launches on September 8 at 9:00 AM Pacific.

That means you do not necessarily lose the early access option if you skip the first minute on September 4. As long as the preorder window is still open and the Deluxe Edition remains available under those terms, buying it during the four day period can still move your personal start date forward.

What Is Included With the Digital Deluxe Edition?

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game, the exclusive Inmate Michael Myers skin and two exclusive civilian characters, Richard and Alexis. The preorder information also lists advance access for the Final Girl Laurie Strode cosmetic, a Halloween: The Game comic and additional surprises.

There is also a Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade planned for launch. IllFonic says the upgrade includes the two exclusive civilians, the Inmate Michael Myers skin and additional extras. The exact value comparison depends on whether you care about the characters, cosmetics and the four day head start.

How Long Is Halloween: The Game Early Access?

Halloween: The Game Early Access lasts four days. It begins September 4 and the standard release arrives September 8, both using a 9:00 AM Pacific unlock.

That is a proper advance access window rather than a few hours of timezone advantage. Deluxe preorder players can spend the weekend with both single player and multiplayer content before the full Tuesday launch.

What Can You Play During Early Access?

Halloween: The Game launches with a standalone single player story mode as Michael Myers and a 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer mode where one player takes the role of Michael while four civilians work together to survive. The launch lineup also includes four multiplayer maps: Haddonfield Town Center, Haddonfield Heights, Orange Grove Estates and East Haddonfield.

Players can customize Michael and civilian characters with unlockable cosmetics, build civilian perk card decks and unlock starting weapons, weapon executions and new abilities for Michael. IllFonic has presented the early access period as access to Halloween: The Game rather than a separate trial or limited demo.

Does Halloween: The Game Early Access Carry Progress Into the Full Release?

The early access period is the actual game opening early for eligible Deluxe preorder players, not a separate test client. However, there is currently no detailed first party statement laying out cross platform progression or save transfer rules between different systems, so those should not be assumed.

If you stay on the same platform and version, there is no indication that September 8 requires starting over. The important distinction is that cross progression between platforms remains a separate question from simply moving from early access into standard launch.

Is Halloween: The Game Early Access Worth Paying More For?

The Halloween: The Game Early Access window is the clearest practical difference between the $39.99 Standard Edition and the $59.99 Digital Deluxe Edition before launch. If playing four days earlier matters to you, the Deluxe Edition is the route that provides it.

If you only care about the base game and do not mind waiting until September 8, the Standard Edition gets you the same core launch without paying the extra $20. The rest of the Deluxe value comes from its exclusive characters, Michael Myers skin and other bonuses rather than from early access alone.
