Genshin Impact Alhaitham Build Guide: Weapons, Artifact Sets, Roles, Teams, Constellations, and more

Genshin Impact - Alhaitham Build Guide

Last Updated on: 27th January 2023, 06:05 pm

Alhaitham is a playable 5-star Dendro character in Genshin Impact. A member of the Haravatat or a field of study that focuses on semiotics and linguistics, he works as the Scribe of Sumeru Akademiya and is responsible for documenting findings and drafting ordinances.

This guide will discuss Alhaitham’s talents, constellations, recommended roles, best weapons, artifact sets, and more! So, if you want to add this character to your team, feel free to read on.

Alhaitham’s Talents and Priority

Alhaitham’s playstyle revolves around a unique mechanic called the Chisel-Light Mirror, which he can create up to three (3) times. This mechanic is vital because having at least one of these mirrors will infuse his Normal Attacks with Dendro.

On the other hand, Alhaitham can deal Projection Attacks (Dendro) while using auto-attacks if he has these mirrors. The more mirror he has, the more damage these Projection Attacks deal.

Lastly, the damage potential of his Elemental Burst depends on the number of these mirrors. However, he can also use his Burst to create mirrors depending on how much he had before unleashing his Burst. For more information about his Burst mechanic, you might want to check the Burst description in the Talent table after this commentary.

Besides unleashing his Burst (while he has fewer than three mirrors), Alhaitham can create Chisel-Light Mirrors using his Elemental Skill. He can create up to two mirrors in this manner. As for the third and last possible mirror, he can create this by hitting opponents with Charged or Plunging Attacks, provided that he has his 1st Ascension Passive unlocked.

Moreover, the damage of Projection Attacks is considered Skill damage, making Alhaitham’s Elemental Skill a priority if you don’t have a lot of resources. With this, below is our Talent Level-up priority recommendation:

  • 1st priority – Elemental Skill
  • 2nd priority – Normal Attack
  • 3rd priority – Elemental Burst

However, if you have more than enough resources for Alhaitham, we recommend leveling up the talents equally.

Normal Attack – Abductive ReasoningNormal Attack
Performs up to 5 rapid strikes.

Charged Attack
Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to unleash 2 rapid sword strikes.

Plunging Attack
Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
Elemental Skill – Universality: An Elaboration on FormRushes forward, dealing Dendro DMG to nearby opponents when the rush ends, causing a Chisel-Light Mirror to form.

Holding this skill will cause it to behave differently.

Hold
Enters Aiming Mode to adjust the direction of Alhaitham’s rush attack.

Chisel-Light Mirror
When this skill is unleashed, Alhaitham will generate 1 Chisel-Light Mirror. If there are no Mirrors at this time, he will generate 1 additional Mirror. Chisel-Light Mirrors will have the following properties:

– When he possesses Chisel-Light Mirrors, Alhaitham’s Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks will be converted to Dendro DMG. This cannot be overridden.

– When attacks of the aforementioned kinds hit opponents, the Chisel-Light Mirrors will unleash a Projection Attack that deals AoE Dendro DMG based on the number of Mirrors on the field.

– A total of 3 Chisel-Light Mirrors can exist at once.

– The Chisel-Light Mirrors will disappear one after the other over time, and will all disappear when Alhaitham leaves the field.
Elemental Burst – Particular Field: Fetters of PhenomenaCreates a Particular Binding Field and deals multiple instances of AoE Dendro DMG.

If Chisel-Light Mirrors exist when this ability is unleashed, all such Mirrors will be consumed and increase the number of DMG instances dealt.

2s after this ability is unleashed, if 0/1/2/3 Mirrors were consumed, Alhaitham will generate 3/2/1/0 new Mirrors in turn.
1st Ascension Passive – Four-Causal CorrectionWhen Alhaitham’s Charged or Plunging Attacks hit opponents, they will generate 1 Chisel-Light Mirror. This effect can be triggered once every 12s.
4th Ascension Passive – Mysteries Laid BareEach point of Alhaitham’s Elemental Mastery will increase the DMG dealt by Projection Attacks and Particular Field: Fetters of Phenomena by 0.1%.

The maximum DMG increase this way for both these abilities is 100%.
Utility Passive – Law of Reductive OverdeterminationWhen Alhaitham crafts Weapon Ascension Materials, he has a 10% chance to receive double the product.

Constellations and Effects

Like most 5-star characters, Alhaitham can do wonders in your team without constellations (C0). If you have a problem with his Elemental Skill cooldown, you might want to aim for Constellation 1 (C1). However, this is not really necessary, as Alhaitham can infuse his attacks with Dendro for quite some time.

Constellation 6 (C6) is, of course, a major upgrade. However, if you don’t have that many resources, you might want to stop at Constellation 2 (C2) for the Elemental Mastery buff. Still, Alhaitham is already good at C0, so if you only have him without constellations, you shouldn’t have to feel the need to upgrade.

If this effect is triggered again during its initial duration, the duration remaining will be increased by 6s.

Recommended Roles and Teams for Alhaitham

With his ability to infuse his own attacks with Dendro and periodically deal Projection Attacks, Alhaitham works best as an on-field unit. He can be your Driver and/or Main DPS, depending on your team. If you are fairly new to the game, a Driver is a character who needs to be on the battlefield to help trigger other characters’ off-field abilities constantly.

You can team up Alhaitham with different characters as long as he takes the role of Driver or Main DPS. To help you with your Alhaitham team compositions, check out some recommendations below:

SPREAD TEAM

MAIN DPSSUPPORT/SUB-DPS SUPPORT/SUB-DPSHEALER/SHIELD SUPPORT
– Alhaitham– Raiden Shogun
– Yae Miko
– Fischl
– Kuki Shinobu
– Nahida
– Albedo
– Dendro Traveler
– Yaoyao
– Zhongli
– Kuki Shinobu

The primary composition of this team is Alhaitham and an off-field Electro unit to trigger Quicken. The other slots are quite flexible, depending on your playstyle. For instance, you can add another Dendro unit, such as Nahida, the Dendro Archon herself. This is to unlock the Dendro Elemental Resonance for more Elemental Mastery (EM).

On the other hand, you can have one more Electro unit to unlock the Electro Elemental Resonance for better particle regeneration. You can even have two Dendro units and two Electro units to unlock both resonances!

If you want to add a Geo character, we recommend the 5-star character Zhongli for his shield or the 5-star character Albedo for his EM buff.

BLOOM TEAM with NILOU

– Alhaitham– Nilou– Nahida
– Yaoyao
– Dendro Traveler
– Collei
– Kokomi
– Yelan
– Xingqiu
– Barbara

The goal of this team is to maximize the 5-star Hydro character Nilou‘s strict Dendro-Hydro-only playstyle. With Alhaitham’s consistent on-field Dendro damage, he can help produce Nilou’s Bountiful Cores.

Of course, you will need a healer for this team, as the cores’ explosion will also damage you. The 4-star Dendro character Yaoyao is a good choice if you would rather bring Yelan or Xingqiu than the Hydro healers.

HYPERBLOOM TEAM

DRIVEROff-field HYDRO Off-field ELECTROHEALER
– Alhaitham– Yelan
– Xingqiu
– Kokomi
– Raiden Shogun
– Kuki Shinobu
– Kuki Shinobu
– Yaoyao
– Kokomi

In this team composition, Alhaitham acts as the one who triggers Bloom on-field and prepares the Dendro Cores for the off-field Electro unit to hit, triggering Hyperbloom.

BURGEON TEAM

– Alhaitham– Yelan
– Xingqiu
– Kokomi
– Thoma– Yaoyao
– Kokomi

Similar to the Hyperbloom Team, Alhaitham acts as the one who helps produce Dendro Cores on-field and prepares them for the next Elemental Reaction. The only difference is that a Pyro character needs to hit the cores with a Pyro ATK to trigger Burgeon. In this case, the 4-star Pyro character Thoma is highly recommended.

Recommended Weapons for Alhaitham

The stats that you would want to consider for choosing Alhaitham’s weapon are Elemental Mastery and CRIT DMG/Rate. Note that while Alhaitham scales with Elemental Mastery and ATK, Elemental Mastery is a better stat to focus on. It can be recalled that his 4th Ascension Passive increases the DMG dealt by his Projection Attacks and his Burst based on his EM.

As his signature weapon, Light of Foliar Incision is the best choice for Alhaitham. However, if you don’t have this sword, there are several options for you. Check out the table for our recommendations.

The character wielding this weapon will deal 16% more DMG to the opponent affected by Cursed Parasol.
Harbinger Of Dawn (3 stars)All WishesBase ATK (Lv 1 -90): 39 – 401
Base Bonus Stat (Lv 1 -90): CRIT DMG 10.2% – 46.9%
Base Skill Effect: When HP is above 90%, increases CRIT Rate by 14%.

We have included the 3-star sword Harbinger of Dawn in this list because Alhaitham doesn’t need a lot of ATK stats and would definitely enjoy the sword’s CRIT DMG bonus and CRIT Rate passive. However, note that the passive only works when the equipping character’s HP is above 90%. If you’re planning to use this sword, we highly recommend that you team Alhaitham up with a reliable shielder like Zhongli.

Recommended Artifact Sets and Stat Priority for Alhaitham

Below are our recommended artifact sets for Alhaitham:

ARTIFACT SETEFFECTS
Gilded Dreams x42-piece: Elemental Mastery +80
4-piece: Within 8s of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members, ATK is increased by 14% for each party member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for every party member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the aforementioned buffs will count up to 3 characters. This effect can be triggered once every 8s. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.
Deepwood Memories x42-piece: Bonus Dendro DMG Bonus +15%
4-piece: After Elemental Skills or Bursts hit opponents, the targets’ Dendro RES will be decreased by 30% for 8s. This effect can be triggered even if the equipping character is not on the field.
Gilded Dreams x2

Wanderer’s Troupe x2
2-piece: Elemental Mastery +80
2-piece: Elemental Mastery +80

If you have an off-field Dendro unit on your team, it is better for Alhaitham to equip a 4-piece Gilded Dreams set. Let the off-field Dendro unit equip a 4-piece Deepwood Memories set and support Alhaitham by shredding enemies’ Dendro RES.

However, if Alhaitham is the only Dendro unit in the party, it is better for him to equip a 4-piece Deepwood Memories set.

Suppose you don’t have artifact pieces with decent stats. You might want to use a 2-piece Gilded Dreams and 2-piece Wanderer’s Troupe combo.

Speaking of decent stats, we recommend the following:

ARTIFACT PIECEMAIN STAT
Flower Flat HP (Fixed)
Plume Flat ATK (Fixed)
SandsElemental Mastery (priority) or ATK% (only if the ATK% has better sub-stats)
GobletDendro DMG Bonus
CircletCRIT DMG or CRIT Rate depending on which stat you need

For artifact sub-stats, we recommend Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK%.
