Acer Predator Atlas 8 is Acer’s premium 8-inch Windows 11 gaming handheld, with UK prices originally announced from £999.99 to £1,499.99. Four configurations pair Intel Arc G3 or G3 Extreme processors with different memory, SSD and battery capacities. Some versions are already sold by UK retailers, while Acer’s direct store currently labels its 24GB G3 model as Coming Soon.

The choice is mostly about how much you want to spend on the graphics chip, storage and battery. Every Acer Predator Atlas 8 version gets a 120Hz touchscreen, physical game controls, Windows PC gaming and Xbox Mode. Here’s how the prices and models compare, what Acer actually specifies and where UK shoppers can look for an available unit.

The Acer Predator Atlas 8 was announced in four UK configurations, with prices from £999.99 to £1,499.99. The 24GB G3 model, SKU NH.U7XEF.003, appears on Acer’s own store at £1,099.99 with a Coming Soon label. That describes this model, not the entire range.

The entry 16GB G3 is currently listed by Very at £999, just below Acer’s original £999.99 price. Currys has listed the 24GB/1TB G3 Extreme, SKU NH.U7XEF.001, near its announced £1,299.99 price. Match the model number as well as the price when choosing a retailer.

Where to buy Acer Predator Atlas 8 in the UK

Acer’s UK store shows the manufacturer’s current direct listing. The 24GB G3/512GB unit is marked Coming Soon, with a notification option. Other Acer Predator Atlas 8 configurations are listed through retailers, so one direct-store status doesn’t describe the entire range.

For a unit you can order, compare Very, Currys and Scan by processor, RAM and SSD. Very currently lists the entry G3 at £999 with an Add to Basket option. Stock and delivery dates are set by each retailer and can differ between two models in the same range.

The display is 1920 x 1200 WUXGA, as Acer’s detailed specification and launch announcement state. One abbreviated store listing gives 1920 x 1080 while calling the panel 16:10. The full product specification identifies the taller 8-inch WUXGA screen, with 120Hz, VRR and 500-nit peak brightness.

G3 versus G3 Extreme: which should you buy?

The standard Acer Predator Atlas 8 with Intel Arc G3 uses Arc B370 graphics and a smaller 60Wh battery. It starts at £999.99 for 16GB RAM, while the 24GB configuration costs £1,099.99. These are the less expensive options if you mainly want Windows gaming, handheld indies, game streaming and a portable PC library.

The G3 Extreme moves to Arc B390 graphics, doubles the listed SSD capacity to 1TB and gets an 80Wh battery. The 24GB model’s announced £1,299.99 price is £200 above the 24GB standard G3. The top £1,499.99 unit adds 32GB RAM but retains the same announced processor, 1TB storage and battery as the cheaper Extreme.

Within the Acer Predator Atlas 8 range, the 24GB G3 Extreme is the strongest value for buyers who want the faster graphics tier without paying for 32GB RAM. It combines Arc B390 graphics, 1TB storage and an 80Wh battery at an announced £1,299.99. The £1,499.99 tier keeps the same core hardware and increases memory.

Acer Predator Atlas 8 display, joysticks and triggers

The Acer Predator Atlas 8 has a 120Hz VRR touchscreen protected by Gorilla Glass Victus with DXC. Acer’s current UK page identifies the sticks as TMR joysticks, while its initial press sheet called them carbon-film sticks. Check the precise controller specification on the retail SKU.

There are physical switches for the adjustable triggers: short, fast micro-switch operation for shooters or full-travel Hall-effect analogue input for racing and other games that use gradual trigger pressure. The handheld also provides two rear macro buttons, a dedicated PredatorSense button and an Xbox Game Bar/Home button.

Xbox Mode, Game Pass and Windows PC games

Xbox Mode gives the handheld a controller-friendly Windows 11 interface with access to installed PC games and the Xbox app. It also runs the normal Windows desktop, so you can use compatible Steam and Epic Games Store games alongside Game Pass titles included with your subscription.

Acer’s current UK page advertises two months of Game Pass Premium. Its original announcement also listed a three-month PC Game Pass promotion. Follow the redemption offer supplied with the specific model you buy, including its eligibility and renewal conditions.

Acer Predator Atlas 8 battery, cooling and ports

The 60Wh and 80Wh figures describe battery capacity, not a guaranteed number of gaming hours. A more demanding game, higher power profile and bright 120Hz display will change runtime. Acer specifies an included 65W USB-C power arrangement in its press materials, while the store shows different power-supply presentation details by region.

The handheld has two Thunderbolt 4 ports for compatible displays, docks, charging and fast storage. Its UHS-II microSD reader can expand game storage without occupying a USB-C port. Cooling combines dual fans, including a metal AeroBlade fan, with Vortex Flow air channels.

Acer Predator Atlas 8 versus the ROG Xbox Ally X20

The main rival around £1,299.99 is the ROG Xbox Ally X20. Asus uses an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme with a 7.4-inch 1920 x 1080 OLED screen, 120Hz VRR, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD and 80Wh battery. Acer uses an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS-level screen with 120Hz VRR and Intel Arc B390 graphics at the same announced Extreme 24GB price.

The ASUS model appeals most if OLED contrast and its compact 7.4-inch screen are priorities. Acer gives you more display area and two Thunderbolt 4 connections. Choose by the features you’ll use every day; these are published specifications, not performance results from hands-on testing.

Is the Acer Predator Atlas 8 worth buying?

If you want an 8-inch Windows handheld with a large 16:10 screen, strong connectivity and flexible trigger controls, the Acer Predator Atlas 8 has an appealing specification. The 24GB G3 Extreme is the most balanced configuration in the announced UK lineup, especially with its 1TB SSD and 80Wh battery.

At the other end, the £999.99 G3 is the way into the same screen and control layout for less money. Just remember that the standard G3 also steps down to Arc B370 and 60Wh. Before checkout, compare the exact SKU and live stock status rather than assuming every announced configuration is available from the same retailer.
