The UK eShop currently gives 2027 rather than an exact day. Nintendo’s reveal described early 2027, and the official PC listing specifies Q1 2027. Those are useful release windows, but not a confirmed UK launch date for Switch 2.

Winds of Viridia is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Shark Jump lists the PC version on Steam; the Switch 2 edition is the one covered by Nintendo’s UK store. The original Nintendo Switch isn’t one of the platforms named in the announcement.

For the Winds of Viridia release date, the key distinction is between the upcoming complete game and the free trial already in the eShop. You can try the world and movement now without assuming the full version has launched.

What is Winds of Viridia about?

A child awakened from a seed sets out across Viridia, a valley dominated by the towering Grantree. Something is driving the creatures of this once-great land into a frenzy, and exploring the valley is how you’ll uncover what’s happening.

Viridia is full of mountain glades, hidden grottos, old ruins and dangerous beasts. This isn’t only a scenic platformer: you’ll explore, fight and face large bosses while looking for relics and people who can help.

Movement is central to the adventure. You can run, slide, roll, flip and grapple, chaining actions to carry momentum across the landscape. Strange plants let you jump higher and launch into hard-to-reach areas.

How does movement and combat work?

Shark Jump describes a seamless world that rewards keeping your speed as you move. Grappling, jumps and special plants are part of how you reach grottos, ruins and other places away from the main route.

Fights take place against beasts affected by the frenzy, including larger guardians and living statues. Combat is fast and agile, so movement matters when finding an opening and responding to an enemy’s attacks.

Relics and treasures can be equipped as totems. Combining them changes your playstyle, adding another decision to the exploration and combat beyond simply choosing a route through the valley.

What does the Mothbug companion do?

You’ll also befriend a Mothbug that helps you explore and fight. The adventure includes residents of Sanctuary and explorers who’ve travelled deeper into the wilds, so not every encounter is a battle.

The soundtrack features Kevin Penkin and Christopher Larkin. Their orchestral score accompanies the exploration, platforming and more dangerous encounters.

The Winds of Viridia release date is worth following if you enjoy action adventures that combine movement, discovery and fights against oversized creatures. The free trial is the best way to get a sense of the game’s momentum.

Can you play before the Winds of Viridia release date?

Yes, the demo is available now. Open Nintendo eShop on Switch 2, search for Winds of Viridia and choose the free demo on its game page. That is separate from the full release planned for 2027.

Our Winds of Viridia demo guide has the download steps. You’ll find the trial on the Nintendo Switch 2 listing even though the complete game is still upcoming.

Nintendo lists one player, with TV, tabletop and handheld play. The UK rating is PEGI 12 for moderate violence. You don’t need Nintendo Switch Online simply to download the free trial.

The Winds of Viridia release date remains a 2027 window for Switch 2. With the demo live, you can explore Shark Jump’s world and see if its combination of high-speed movement and combat is for you before launch.
