The Petal Runner release date is still a few months away, but the free Switch 2 demo is available now. It arrived during Nintendo’s 28 October Indie World presentation and gives you a first taste of the game’s motorcycle deliveries and character-driven world.

Nintendo’s UK store shows 08/03/2027, and Nano Park Studios confirmed March 8 in its own announcement. The same date applies to the PC edition. You can try a free demo now while the full game approaches.
Nintendo calls Petal Runner a Switch 2 console exclusive. That means the announced console edition is Switch 2, not that the PC version doesn’t exist. The Petal Runner release date also applies to PC on Steam.
What is Petal Runner about?
Cali and Kira want to join the Petal Runners, motorcycle couriers who deliver and install digital pets. Their deliveries take them through neighbourhoods filled with residents, androids and unexpected requests.
This is a slice-of-life role-playing game rather than a racing-only title. The motorcycle connects the city’s streets, highways and back roads, while the deliveries bring you into contact with residents, androids and the digital creatures you’re helping find homes.
Behind those errands is a mystery involving the HanaPets corporation. Side quests can lead to ghost hunts, heists, missing-person cases and concerts going wrong, so the adventure is more than a delivery checklist.
How big is Petal Runner’s open world?
The city has four distinctive districts, each with its own colour palette, people and personality. You’ll ride between them, meet new characters and work through smaller neighbourhood stories alongside the main campaign.
The environment is inspired by a sunny solarpunk future, with detailed pixel-art streets and an original chiptune soundtrack. There’s a strong retro handheld look, but the game is designed as an open-world adventure with people to meet and optional activities.
The game mixes minigames, optional jobs and digital pets to deliver and settle into new homes. A courier stop might be a short task or the beginning of a bigger story about someone Cali and Kira meet.
Does Petal Runner support multiplayer?
Petal Runner supports one player on Switch 2, in TV, tabletop or handheld mode. Kira is Cali’s companion in the story, rather than a second local co-op player.
The UK page carries a PEGI 3 classification. Nintendo’s US page estimates roughly 500 MB for the main game’s file size, but that number should not be used as the download size of the separate free demo.
