FFXIV Magitype Magister Title: How to Get 100 Keybound Brawler Clears

FFXIV Magitype Magister

FFXIV Magitype Magister is the title rewarded for earning the Masterstroke IV achievement in Final Fantasy XIV. To unlock it, you must successfully clear Keybound Brawler 100 times. The achievement is worth 10 points and belongs to the Gold Saucer’s Keybound Brawler achievement series.

The typing attraction opened on 28 October 2026 for the FFVII Remake collaboration. You can make progress towards the title while earning MGC for the Tifa and Barret outfits or Magitek Scorpion mount. Here’s how to unlock the activity, what counts towards Masterstroke IV and the earlier milestones you’ll earn along the way.

Unlock Keybound Brawler by reaching level 15 and completing the Gold Saucer introductory quest It Could Happen to You. If you haven’t opened the venue yet, speak to the Well-Heeled Youth at Ul’dah, Steps of Nald X:9.6, Y:9.0 after completing your starting city’s envoy main-scenario quest.

Next, find the Catlike Mammet at Gold Saucer X:5.4, Y:7.0 and finish Keyward Bound. That quest introduces the typing activity, which groups up to four players in a shared defence encounter. You must use a physical keyboard to enter the words shown above advancing enemies.

Once you’ve unlocked the activity, play it repeatedly and earn 100 completed clears. Square Enix’s Lodestone records specify Masterstroke IV: Clear Keybound Brawler 100 times. The FFXIV Magitype Magister title is awarded by that achievement, not purchased from the MGC Trader.

The achievement series has four checkpoints: 1, 10, 50 and 100 successful clears. Masterstroke I, II and III award achievement points along the way; Masterstroke IV provides the title itself. You don’t need to buy a Keybound Coffer or spend MGC to meet the 100-clear requirement.

If your immediate goal is FFXIV Magitype Magister, track your completed runs in the character achievement menu under the Gold Saucer achievements. A run where you merely enter the attraction is not the same as the successful clear specified by Masterstroke IV.

Do failed Keybound Brawler runs count towards 100?

The achievement requires clears, so concentrate on completing the activity successfully. Keybound Brawler asks players to type enemy words before the enemies can overwhelm the arena. Work through the displayed text accurately, prioritise threats moving closest to the defenders, and help your team finish each round.

The FFXIV Magitype Magister target is cumulative across completed clears, rather than a requirement to finish 100 games in a row without a mistake. Check the Masterstroke achievement progression after runs to see where you stand, particularly when approaching the 50-clear and 100-clear milestones.

Can you use a controller to farm the FFXIV Magitype Magister title?

No. Square Enix specifies that Keybound Brawler needs a physical keyboard. Gamepad inputs and on-screen keyboards cannot be used for the typing activity. Players who normally use a controller on PS5, Xbox or PC must connect a keyboard to participate in the text-based combat.

Test the keyboard in an ordinary in-game text field before starting if it is your first time using one with FFXIV. The keyboard compatibility guide covers what to check if controller inputs aren’t typing the enemy words.

Is the FFXIV Magitype Magister title bought with MGC?

No. It’s an achievement title, not an event shop purchase. Playing Keybound Brawler also earns Manderville Gold Saucer Credits (MGC), which you can spend on the FFVII Remake crossover rewards, but the amount of MGC you hold doesn’t replace the 100 successful clears.

For a shorter-term reward, the Magitek Scorpion mount key costs 430 MGC, Tifa’s five-piece outfit totals 1,570 MGC and Barret’s six-piece outfit totals 1,760 MGC. Our reward price list covers every item while you work towards the title.

How long do you have to unlock FFXIV Magitype Magister?

The first collaboration lasts from 28 October 2026 until Patch 8.0. Square Enix says the attraction will return for occasional special events afterwards, but this is the current opportunity to accumulate clears and earn MGC at the same time. Playing during the FFVII collaboration also lets you buy the themed rewards while the shop is open.

Start with Keyward Bound, make sure your keyboard works, then build towards Masterstroke IV as you play. When the 100-clear achievement unlocks, you can equip the FFXIV Magitype Magister title through your character’s title settings. There’s no additional MGC charge or cosmetic item to purchase.
