Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash has an official driver fix as of 30 October 2026. AMD lists the intermittent FSR-enabled hang on Radeon RX 9000 cards under Fixed Issues for Adrenalin 26.10.2. If this was happening on your PC, updating the compatible Radeon driver is the first move.

AMD has kept its advice to disable FSR if the hang still happens, even though 26.10.2 lists the defect as fixed. That gives you two clear steps: install the compatible driver, then test with FSR off if the freeze continues. You don’t need to wipe the game or your saves.

What causes the Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash?

AMD’s 26.10.2 release notes list an intermittent Death Stranding 2: On the Beach application hang with AMD FSR enabled on RX 9000 graphics in Fixed Issues. Its older 26.10.1 driver notes had placed the same Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash in Known Issues. The current classification is fixed, while AMD retains the advice to turn off FSR for anybody still affected.

How to stop freezing using AMD’s workaround

Start in AMD Software and check the graphics card and installed driver under System Settings. For a supported RX 9000 PC, install Adrenalin 26.10.2, restart if prompted, and load the same Death Stranding 2 area using your previous FSR setting. If the Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash happens again, switch FSR off in the game’s graphics options and retry.

Keep everything else the same for that second test. If the game stops hanging with FSR disabled, you’ve isolated a useful trigger. If it still freezes, make a note of when it happens and whether the application closes or the entire PC becomes unresponsive. There’s no reason to delete save data during this process.

Which Radeon cards does AMD identify?

The driver notes specify RX 9000 series products, which means this Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash warning can apply to members of that generation. It does not say that every model, system or driver installation will freeze. Nor does the relevant entry claim that RX 7000 and RX 6000 products share the same defect. Those GPUs could still have unrelated errors, but the official warning should not be stretched to include hardware it does not name. Confirm your GPU model in AMD Software before choosing a troubleshooting route.

Laptop owners should check their manufacturer’s validated Radeon drivers, since the generic AMD package may not include every system-specific feature. AMD also excludes handheld gaming devices from this 26.10.2 download. Use the driver supplied for the actual device rather than assuming a desktop RX 9000 package will fit.

What happens to performance without FSR?

Disabling FSR can affect performance because upscaling reduces the workload needed to draw the image. If you turn it off and the frame rate drops, try another supported graphics setting that appears in your copy of the game. Don’t assume your Radeon card supports another manufacturer’s upscaling system.

Once the game is stable, restore performance one setting at a time. Try reducing particularly demanding options rather than changing the whole preset at once. That way you can keep the image quality you prefer without losing track of the setting that stopped the hang.

What if Death Stranding 2 still hangs?

If a Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash continues after the relevant setting is disabled, establish whether the game application closes, the graphics driver times out or the entire computer becomes unresponsive. These symptoms should not be treated as interchangeable. Record the graphics card, AMD software version, game build, resolution, other display connections and the sequence of actions before the crash. Repeat a controlled test rather than immediately trying aggressive driver cleaning or an operating system reset.

AMD’s same driver also fixes certain crashes involving overlays and in-game frame generation when switching applications on RX 9000 hardware. Those are separate fixed entries. A freeze when opening an overlay should be tested separately from the FSR-enabled Death Stranding 2 hang.

Has the Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash been fixed?

Yes. In its official 26.10.2 release notes, AMD puts the Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash under Fixed Issues. The 26.10.1 article is historical. AMD still recommends disabling FSR if you personally experience an intermittent hang. Updating and retesting is appropriate; promising every game freeze is permanently eliminated is not.

On a supported RX 9000 card, install the matching 26.10.2 driver and compare the same scene using your original settings. If the Death Stranding 2 AMD FSR crash persists, disable FSR and repeat the test. Record your exact hardware, game version and driver version before submitting a support report.
