ESO Free Houses include a starter inn room you can claim through Room to Spare and the much larger Hall of the Lunar Champion, earned through Northern Elsweyr’s story. There are also additional inn rooms in Chapter cities that you can claim with another eligible character rather than paying gold.

Not every offer advertised among ESO’s free houses is available year-round. Some were limited-time login, event or promotion rewards. Here’s the permanent quest route, the inn-room locations and which historical freebies you shouldn’t expect to claim today.

How to get a free inn room with Room to Spare

To claim the first of these free houses, get the Room to Spare Housing Brochure through the Crown Store’s Quest Starters section or from a city bank. Find Felande Demarie at the inn in the city where you want your free room, complete the short quest and claim that location’s inn room. The room belongs to the account afterwards, and all your characters can use it. Each character can complete the free-room quest only once, but another eligible character can claim a different location.

The three alliance starter free houses

Aldmeri Dominion characters can claim Mara’s Kiss Public House in Vulkhel Guard, Auridon. Daggerfall Covenant characters can claim The Rosy Lion in Daggerfall, Glenumbra. Ebonheart Pact characters can claim The Ebony Flask in Davon’s Watch, Stonefalls. These free houses are compact rooms suited to a few furnishings and a free teleport destination. These three are available without buying an extra Chapter, and you can own more than one after repeating Room to Spare on other characters.

Free houses in Vvardenfell, Summerset and Elsweyr

Saint Delyn Penthouse is in Vivec City, Vvardenfell. Golden Gryphon Garret is associated with Alinor’s Summerset housing, and Sugar Bowl Suite sits in Rimmen, Northern Elsweyr. To claim one free, use a character who still has the Room to Spare reward available and complete the quest in that city’s inn. Chapter or zone access matters. If the character already used its free room claim, these rooms are ordinarily available for gold rather than a second no-cost claim.

ESO Free houses in Greymoor, Blackwood, High Isle and Necrom

Snowmelt Suite is in Solitude, Western Skyrim; Pilgrim’s Rest is in Leyawiin, Blackwood; Ancient Anchor Berth is in Gonfalon Bay, High Isle; and Journey’s End Lodgings is in Necrom. Each follows the corresponding Room to Spare quest route when you have access to that zone. Each eligible character can claim one free inn room through the quest. You can use other characters to claim further rooms.

ESO Free houses in West Weald and Solstice

Later chapter zones introduced further inn-room options, including Rosewine Retreat in Skingrad, West Weald, and The Sleepy Sloth in Sunport, Solstice. Make sure the character has access to the relevant content and hasn’t claimed a different free Room to Spare reward already. Some older ESO Support lists stop at Necrom, so a missing newer city doesn’t automatically mean the house is unavailable. Check the house’s Collectibles or purchase screen for its current availability.

ESO Free Houses – Hall of the Lunar Champion

Hall of the Lunar Champion is one of the larger free houses you can earn through quests. It isn’t one of the small inn rooms. This is the major permanent quest-earned home in Northern Elsweyr. Complete the zone story quest Two Queens to receive the Hall and its first tablet, Behold the Lunar Champion. The Heir of Anequina gives the second tablet and unlocks the first additional wing. The Scalebreaker Scout achievement, earned by completing Lair of Maarselok and Moongrave Fane, gives the third. The Dragonguard story provides the fourth, opening another wing. Place the tablets on their respective altars through the Housing Editor.

A full list of the repeatable inn-room choices

The twelve inn rooms below are permanent options for Room to Spare. One eligible character can receive one free room, so use additional characters for the others. You must have access to the zone where the room is located.

Past event free houses and limited-time giveaways

Grand Psijic Villa, Antiquarian’s Alpine Gallery and some other notable homes have been offered through past promotions or community events. Those offers aren’t automatically repeatable today. Event-created houses such as Doomchar Plateau have also depended on collecting fragments during specific event windows. If a guide simply says to log in or earn last year’s achievement today, check whether that campaign is currently running. Past event houses may return through other systems, but they aren’t automatically obtainable from the original expired promotion.

What to do if you can’t claim a room

If you’ve abandoned Room to Spare, collect the brochure again from Quest Starters or speak to Felande Demarie in the eligible inn. Make sure you’re finishing the quest in the city whose room you want. If the NPC offers only a gold purchase, check whether that character already claimed its free-room reward or lacks the zone’s required content. Homes you’ve already obtained appear in Collections, and you can visit them from another character without repeating their quests.
