ESO Infinite Archive is a repeatable challenge where you fight through changing waves of enemies and bosses, either alone or with one other player. Every run grows tougher the deeper you go, and you choose temporary powers to help survive the later arcs.
It’s available without needing the Necrom Chapter, although Necrom owners can also reach the physical entrance in Apocrypha. You can travel straight to the Index Chamber, tackle the repeating boss-and-stage sequence, and spend Archival Fortunes on rewards between runs.
How to enter Infinite Archive without Necrom
Open the world map and choose Apocrypha, then find the Infinite Archive icon and fast-travel directly to its Index Chamber. This access isn’t restricted to owning Necrom. If you do have the Chapter, you can also travel from the Speiran Tarn Wayshrine and head north along the coast to the entrance. Infinite Archive is built for one player, a player with a Companion, or a two-player duo; it isn’t a standard four-person dungeon queue.
ESO Infinite Archive- Begin at the Index Chamber
When you arrive, speak to Master Malkhest to begin the introductory quest, then interact with the central console to start a run. The Index Chamber also has merchants, quest turn-ins and the Reset Hourglass. The hourglass deliberately clears current run progress, so don’t touch it just to look at the menu. ESO Infinite Archive uses an instance that can reset when you leave or disconnect for too long. Plan enough uninterrupted time for the depth you’re aiming to reach.

Stages, Cycles and the final Arc boss
Each Cycle has two Stages followed by a boss fight. Defeating that boss completes the Cycle and awards a Muniment Chest. Five Cycles form one Arc, with Tho’at Replicanum as the boss of the fifth Cycle. Beating her advances you to a harder Arc with better potential rewards and stronger encounters. The regular bosses and stages vary between runs, so learn each encounter’s mechanics instead of expecting a fixed order. Pay attention to their mechanics rather than memorising one fixed route.
Verses versus Visions
Verses are short-term powers available after stages, generally lasting only the following stage. Visions are longer-term powers offered after boss fights and persist for the remainder of a run. Choosing a defensive Vision may be better than chasing a flashy damage boost if you’re losing your Threads early. Choose powers for the enemies you’re facing and the amount of healing or defence your build still needs.
Threads of Fate, deaths and ending a run
Your Threads are effectively the lives available to your run. Deaths use them up, and when they’re gone the run ends. Hidden side activities sometimes appear through secondary portals and can provide extra rewards when completed. Those challenges aren’t required to finish every ordinary stage, so choose them according to your available Threads and how confident you are with the mechanics. Running out of Threads ends that run; it isn’t a dungeon where you can resume at a saved boss checkpoint.
What Infinite Archive Archival Fortunes are for
Muniment Chests after boss encounters, special Marauders and Archive-related quests award Archival Fortunes. The amounts generally rise at deeper Arc levels. Spend the currency with the Archive’s merchants for the available class set equipment, collectibles and other rotating goods. ESO Plus members earn an additional 10% Archival Fortunes, according to Bethesda Support. The currency is specific to the Archive and isn’t the same as Undaunted Keys, Transmute Crystals or Trade Bars.
Quests, merchants and extra rewards
Explore the Index Chamber between runs to check the merchants’ current offerings and available quest givers. Bosses and Muniment Chests can reward equipment and collection items as you advance; some side activities lead to their own chests. The Archive includes class-oriented gear sets, furnishings and collectibles, with the deeper arcs yielding harder encounters. There are separate solo and duo leaderboards, so either type of run can count towards your weekly ranking.

When an Infinite Archive run resets
ESO Support says progress is maintained while you remain in the Archive and return to the Index Chamber between stages, but it can reset if you wayshrine out, disconnect or leave the instance for more than five minutes. If you want to finish a run early while keeping a valid leaderboard score, use the Runic Thread Weaver east of the main console. Don’t promise yourself that a deep Arc is saved for tomorrow; ESO Infinite Archive runs are designed to be tackled during a session.
A solid first Infinite Archive run
Bring a reliable self-heal, a way to interrupt dangerous enemies and some area damage for groups. Start solo or with a friend and make it through the first Arc before building a strategy for late-depth survival. Avoid resetting the instance accidentally, and spend Archival Fortunes only after checking what the merchants currently sell. Remember that a Verse helps for a short period, while a Vision lasts for the rest of your current run.
