ESO Psijic Order: How to Unlock the Skill Line and Seal Time Breaches

ESO Psijic Order unlocks a separate skill line through the Summerset story, but you won’t get it by simply visiting any guildhall. You first need to complete The Queen’s Decree, travel to Artaeum and speak to Loremaster Celarus inside Ceporah Tower.

After that, Psijic’s Calling sends you around Summerset closing time breaches. The skill line progresses through those quests, so a player who only wants the skills still has a route to complete. Here’s where to start, how to spot the breaches and what to do when a rift won’t appear.

Unlock Summerset and complete The Queen’s Decree

Start the Summerset main story through its zone story or the relevant collection quest starter. The Queen’s Decree introduces the island and sends you towards Artaeum. You need access to Summerset content for the Psijic quest chain. Complete that first main-story quest before searching for Celarus. You need to reach Artaeum and start the Psijic questline with Loremaster Celarus before the skill line appears.

Find Loremaster Celarus on Artaeum

Travel to Artaeum and enter the Ceporah Tower. Speak to Loremaster Celarus to begin the Order’s introductory work and gain access to the Psijic quest line. The starting quest, The Psijics’ Calling, first sends you to the Wasten Coraldale delve on Summerset to retrieve the Augur of the Obscure, a talking skull. Bring the Augur back to Artaeum and follow the quest to begin sealing time breaches. The Augur then helps you locate disturbances across the island. Check the Guild section of Skills once the Order is joined. If the line isn’t there yet, follow the active quest objectives rather than purchasing unrelated guild ranks.

Close the nine Summerset breaches

Psijic’s Calling first directs you to close time breaches spread around Summerset. Read the map and follow the Augur’s comments while exploring the highlighted area. Breaches appear as luminous, unstable disturbances in the world; approach and interact to seal one. These are quest objectives, not ordinary Psijic Portals containing random loot. Seal the required breaches shown on your quest map, then return to the Psijic Order to advance the quest.

ESO Psijic Order – All nine Summerset time breach locations

Psijic Order starts its breach hunt on Summerset. Open the Psijic Map of Summerset from the Quest inventory and check these landmarks while following the Augur’s comments. The first nine breaches are:

# Summerset time breach Nearby wayshrine
1 Ruins northwest of Alinor, above the beach Alinor / Cey-Tarn Keep
2 Small island west of the Rellenthil Abyssal Geyser Russafeld Heights
3 Waterfall south of the Illumination Academy Ebon Stadmont
4 Direnni Acropolis, over the bridge and to the right King’s Haven Pass
5 Waterfall northwest of Shimmerene Shimmerene
6 Ruins east of Keep of the Eleven Forces, south of Shimmerene Shimmerene
7 Sil-Var-Woad, beside the water feature Sil-Var-Woad
8 Beach southeast of the Sil-Var-Woad Abyssal Geyser Sil-Var-Woad
9 Stream mouth south of Sunhold Wayshrine Sunhold

Once you’ve sealed all nine, return to Celarus and Josajeh on Artaeum. The next quest sends you to a different region, so you won’t need to search the same nine sites again.

Quest order from rank one to rank ten

Later Psijic Order quests send you across Tamriel in a fixed sequence. Use the current quest’s Psijic Map before searching a zone; the map changes after reporting each completed set.

Rank Quest or objective Region
1 The Psijics’ Calling Summerset
2 Breaches on the Bay Glenumbra, Stormhaven, Alik’r Desert
3 Breaches of Frost and Fire Skyrim and Morrowind
4 The Shattered Staff Staff fragment quest
5 A Breach Amid the Trees Grahtwood, Greenshade, Malabal Tor
6 A Time for Mud and Mushrooms Deshaan and Shadowfen
7 The Towers Remains Further staff fragment quest
8 Time in Doomcrag’s Shadow Rivenspire
9 A Breach Beyond the Crags Craglorn
10 The Towers Fall Artaeum finale

The difference between rifts and portals

The passive See the Unseen reveals Psijic Portals that can appear throughout Tamriel and provide loot. Those portals are not the same as the time breaches marked by Psijic Order story quests. A missing loot portal doesn’t mean your required quest breach is gone. ESO Support confirms See the Unseen through the skill line and that you must unlock the Order through Summerset first. If you’re following a breach map, look for the quest interaction rather than the ordinary lootable portal appearance.

ESO Psijic Order – How to complete the later Psijic quests

After Summerset, the Psijic Order quest chain sends you across other regions to close more time breaches and repair time disturbances. Check the active map from the Augur and finish each set before reporting back. The skill line advances through the Order’s questline, not by killing ordinary enemies or slotting Psijic abilities. Travelling by wayshrines helps, but you’ll still need to search each indicated part of a zone.

Abilities and passives from the Order

The line includes Time Stop, Imbue Weapon, Accelerate, Meditate and the Undo Ultimate, alongside passives such as See the Unseen. You unlock those options as you increase the skill-line rank and spend Skill Points. The best choices depend on your role. Check the rank needed for the ability you want before deciding how much of the questline to complete.

When a time breach cannot be found

First make sure you’re in the quest’s correct zone and have the Augur or active map indicated by the objective. A breach can be tucked beside ruins, cliffs or trees rather than sitting on an obvious road. Re-read the map description and inspect the quest compass near the marked area. Story time breaches and lootable Psijic Portals are different objects, so look for the specific quest interaction. If a quest marker genuinely fails, record the quest name and game version before reporting a problem.

How to save time on the full route

Unlock nearby wayshrines before starting each set of breaches, carry enough supplies for overworld travel and use a confirmed map of the precise quest stage rather than a generic portal map. Finish one zone’s breaches before jumping to the next. Complete the breaches in each quest stage before moving on; doing unrelated dungeons won’t advance the Psijic Order ranks.
