ESO Master Writs are sealed crafting contracts that reward Writ Vouchers after you make a specific high-level item. They’re more demanding than daily writs, often naming an exact set, style, trait, quality or consumable combination.
Their vouchers buy furnishings, plans and other crafting rewards from specialist merchants. The best way to get started is to complete maximum-tier daily writs, but not every invitation is worth accepting. Here’s how to avoid spending valuable materials on a poor deal.
Update 51 crafting-station compensation: ZeniMax has granted 1,000 Writ Vouchers to accounts affected by the Grand Master Crafting Station issue, following its final 19 October repair. This was compensation for affected players, not a universal reward. Our ESO 1,000 Writ Vouchers guide explains eligibility, what was fixed and what to check if your station still shows missing sets.
Update 51 Master Crafting Station Fix and 1,000 Writ Vouchers
ZeniMax Online Studios completed the repair for Update 51’s Grand Master Crafting Station issue on 19 October 2026. Some players found previously collected crafting sets locked or missing from their fully upgraded stations following the 28 September patch. The developer’s September 28 hotfix stopped further accounts from being affected, and the October 19 maintenance finished repairing accounts already impacted.
Only accounts affected by this specific station issue received 1,000 Writ Vouchers. This was compensation granted directly across servers, not a new quest or a universal login reward. You do not need to complete a Master Writ to qualify for those compensation vouchers. If your station still shows previously learned sets as unavailable after logging out and back in, compare the affected sets with your earlier collection and contact official support with your platform, server and station details.
For the developer’s account-wide repair announcement, read ZeniMax’s official forum confirmation. The normal ways to earn and spend Writ Vouchers through Master Writs remain explained below.
ESO Master Writs- How to obtain sealed Master Writs
Complete a normal crafting writ at the maximum crafting tier for that profession. Its reward container has a chance to hold a sealed invitation. Sealed invitations aren’t guaranteed, and low-tier writs aren’t eligible for the same high-tier pool. Researching traits, learning motif styles and finishing crafting achievements improve your overall mastery and can help your chances. You can also buy tradeable sealed invitations from Guild Traders instead of waiting for a drop.
What to check before accepting Master Writs
Open the sealed invitation’s description and read the requirements. Equipment writs may call for a specific crafted set, item type, trait, improvement quality and crafting motif. Consumable writs can demand particular potion effects, glyphs, recipes or ingredient combinations. If you’re missing the required trait, motif or crafting station, keep the sealed invitation in your inventory until you’re ready. Accepting blindly may leave a costly quest you can’t finish immediately.

Crafting equipment for Master Writs
For a weapon or armour writ, travel to the named crafted-set station, choose the right item type and set, and use the exact motif and trait. Upgrade to the quality stated in the commission rather than stopping at white quality, as you would for a regular equipment writ. The item must be made on the character submitting it, remain unbound and be unlocked. The wrong motif chapter or a trait researched on a different item type won’t satisfy the commission.
Where Master Writs award Writ Vouchers
Once the exact item is ready, follow the Master Writ quest to Rolis Hlaalu, the Mastercraft Mediator, outside an alliance capital. You can find him around the major capital areas of Elden Root, Wayrest and Mournhold. Hand in the required item and receive the voucher quantity printed on the invitation. You’ll receive Writ Vouchers rather than an ordinary daily-writ reward container.
ESO Master Writs- Where to spend your Writ Vouchers
Rolis Hlaalu has voucher goods such as crafting components, motif chapters, recipes, furnishing plans and useful crafting-related items. Faustina Curio, near the Mastercraft Mediator, offers further designs and collections. Check the actual vendor prices and stock before deciding what to work towards. Writ Vouchers can help pay for furnishing projects and crafting conveniences, although it may be better to buy some items directly with gold if your vouchers are hard to earn.
Buying Master Writs and checking the cost
A Guild Trader can list sealed invitations. The displayed Price is the total gold cost of one writ, while Unit Price may represent the calculated gold per Writ Voucher, not a stack quantity. Work out your costs before buying: purchase price plus the materials and improvement boosters needed, divided by the voucher reward. A cheap-looking invitation that demands rare gold-quality jewellery materials can be worse than several smaller easy commissions.

ESO Master Writs – Why Master Writs won’t turn in
Check the item type, set, crafting style, trait and quality against the quest text, one by one. Owning an account-wide Outfit Style doesn’t mean your crafting character has learned the required motif chapter. Normal daily crafting writs use white, untraited equipment; that’s not the rule here. Make sure you haven’t locked or bound the commissioned piece, and that it was created by the same character accepting the writ.
A reliable Master Writs farming routine
Do maximum-tier daily writs on a capable crafter, keep trait research running and learn motif chapters you can afford. Save inexpensive sealed commissions until you can craft several in one session, then take them to Rolis Hlaalu together. Selling items bought with Writ Vouchers can be profitable, but a steady supply of affordable materials and crafting knowledge matters far more than chasing the largest voucher number on a random invitation.
