ESO Bag Space: Increase Inventory, Bank and Storage Capacity

ESO Season 2 Echoes of Skyrim: Release Date and Everything New

ESO Bag Space fills quickly when you’re collecting armour, crafting materials, treasure maps and furniture. The good news is you can expand it with in-game gold, riding capacity training and storage without buying a Crown Store upgrade.

Pack merchants increase bag space for the character you’re playing. Bank upgrades serve the whole account, while ESO Plus and housing containers handle different kinds of storage. Here’s what to buy first and how to avoid paying Crowns for space you can earn normally.

Find a Pack Merchant to increase inventory slots

Pack Merchants are found in the main city hubs across Tamriel. Look for the bag merchant icon on your map, speak to the vendor and purchase the next inventory expansion with gold. Each bag space upgrade costs more gold than the previous one, so start with the cheapest purchases. A Pack Merchant upgrade increases only the selected character’s inventory, not the bank and not every alt automatically.

Upgrade Riding Capacity at a Stablemaster

Visit a Stablemaster and select the Carry Capacity riding skill. Each Capacity point adds one inventory slot to that character, regardless of which mount it rides or whether it’s currently mounted. Riding skill training has its own schedule and costs; as of Update 49, each stablemaster training purchase grants three points in the chosen skill, for 500 gold. Capacity is capped at 60 points, giving up to 60 extra bag slots. Carry Capacity stacks with Pack Merchant upgrades, up to the riding capacity cap.

Bank space and shared storage for all characters

Talk to a Banker in a major town and purchase an account bank expansion with gold. Your bank is shared by characters on the same megaserver, so upgrading bank space gives every character more room for spare equipment. Capacity upgrades get more expensive over time. Bank slots and the active character’s bag are separate totals: spending gold on a bank upgrade doesn’t increase the number shown in your personal inventory. Move spare equipment into the bank rather than carrying everything on one character.

ESO Plus and the Craft Bag

ESO Plus includes the Craft Bag, an unlimited storage area for crafting materials, and doubles the account’s bank capacity. If the subscription lapses, you can still withdraw stored crafting materials, but you can’t add more to the over-limit storage until eligible again. If your bank becomes over its non-member cap, withdrawals still work, while deposits stop until the balance drops under the limit. Neither benefit is required to play or craft, and normal bag upgrades remain available.

Housing storage chests: more bag space alternatives

Housing storage containers provide separate places to keep sets, consumables and other items you don’t use every day. They have their own slot limits and can be accessed through homes where they’re placed. The containers aren’t the same as your shared bank, and having multiple furnishings of the same storage type doesn’t create endlessly duplicating capacity. Check the container’s inventory before buying another one with vouchers, Crowns or other available currency.

ESO Bag Space- What to do when the bag is full

Sell obvious junk to merchants, deconstruct unwanted gear for crafting Inspiration and upgrade materials, and deposit valuable spare equipment in the bank. You can lock rare or important gear to protect it from accidental selling, but locked items will no longer appear in several disposal menus. The Sticker Book can also record non-crafted set gear after it binds, allowing you to reconstruct that piece later instead of storing every duplicate permanently.

Are Crown Store bag upgrades worth buying?

The Crown Store sells bag space upgrades, but you can expand inventory with gold. A purchased Bag Space Upgrade is applied automatically rather than arriving as a physical item in mail. Buying one without understanding Pack Merchants, stable capacity and the bank may waste Crowns you wanted for cosmetics. Work through the affordable gold upgrades and riding training first, then decide whether paid convenience matters to you.

A bag space setup that stays manageable

Keep everyday potions, food and the current equipment loadout on your character. To free bag space, deposit valuable crafting or collection items before a long quest session, and use the Craft Bag if you have ESO Plus. Don’t carry dozens of spare weapons you might never use. Save valuable items and sell or deconstruct ordinary duplicates. If you need an item mainly for its appearance, learn whether it belongs in Collections before saving a physical copy.
