ESO Kyne’s Aegis Trial Guide covers the Greymoor twelve-player trial in northern Western Skyrim. Its three bosses are Yandir the Butcher, Captain Vrol and Lord Falgravn. The hardest mechanics involve lightning positioning, Vrol’s ship and ballistas, and Falgravn’s prisoners in the lower Ritual Vault.

Kyne’s Aegis is not a normal four-player dungeon. It has Normal, Veteran and individual Hard Mode challenges for its bosses. You will need players assigned to specific mechanics, especially interrupts, siege weapons and prisoner rescues. Extra damage won’t make up for missing those jobs.

  • Yandir the Butcher: Toxic Tide, Sea Adders, Gryphons, totems and lightning.
  • Captain Vrol: Frigid Fog, Shocking Harpoons, Storm Twins and ship siege.
  • Lord Falgravn: Instability lightning, blood magic, arena transitions and captives.

Find Kyne’s Aegis off the northern Western Skyrim coast. Organise twelve players, with tanks, healers, damage dealers and interrupt duties. In Veteran Kyne’s Aegis, decide who handles Vrol’s siege weapons and who rescues Falgravn’s prisoners before pulling either boss.

Yandir the Butcher boss mechanics

In the first Kyne’s Aegis fight, the tank should keep Yandir facing away from the rest of the group. His frontal Toxic Tide hits everyone in its path. Below half health, Sundering Strike and Thunderous Leap become more dangerous, while targeted lightning requires players to keep some space.

Kill Sea Adder and Gryphon adds before they overwhelm healers, interrupt shamans and keep offensive totems under control. A loose group formation lets players receive heals without overlapping lightning strikes. Don’t rotate the boss towards teammates while repositioning.

Captain Vrol: ice, lightning and conduits

At Captain Vrol in Kyne’s Aegis, Frigid Fog creates ice under its target. The boss becomes immune to damage while standing in it, so the tank must move him clear. If frozen, break free. Shocking Harpoons create tethering conduits that must be destroyed before they explode and kill connected players.

Spread out for lightning strikes, and interrupt the Storm Twins when they cast Tempest after Vrol drops below half health. Leave enough stamina for blocks, interrupts and movement rather than chasing damage numbers.

Vrol ship siege and ballista steps

  • Collect ballista repair parts from barrels at the back of Vrol’s area.
  • Repair the two ballistas overlooking the enemy ship.
  • Fire at shipboard enemies to reduce the waves entering the main arena.
  • During the early phase, assign a player to use the portal synergy and interrupt the conjurer.
  • In the later phase, target the fire mages with ballista shots while the other players handle Vrol.

Assign players to the siege weapons before the fight so the rest of the group can stay focused on Vrol. A party abandoning the boss to use both weapons risks losing players to harpoons and fog. Handle ship adds and the main arena simultaneously.

Lord Falgravn: first phase and Instability

The final Kyne’s Aegis boss, Falgravn, opens with heavy tank attacks and lightning circles called Instability on random players. Spread these circles so their blasts don’t overlap. As the fight progresses, the arena breaks into lower areas. Follow your assigned route and avoid blood damage rather than clustering around the boss.

In the final phase, the tank must keep Falgravn inside the Ritual Vault pit. Bringing him onto the stairs can trigger a fatal Smash. Healers should account for continuing damage to the group in the vault.

Lord Falgravn: lightning chain and phase changes

In Falgravn’s first phase, watch for the lightning sconces around the room. When a sconce lights up, players need to form a chain between it and Falgravn so the lightning reaches him and interrupts the damaging Grievous Pulse. The chain works only while players stand close enough to conduct the charge, so assign positions before pulling the boss rather than leaving everyone to run for the same sconce.

At roughly 70% health, the floor breaks and the group drops into the Hidden Barrow. This phase involves the Crimson, Bitter and Blood Knights and their combined abilities. At around 35% health, another floor collapse takes everyone into the Ritual Vault for the final phase. Keep your tank and healer assignments ready for those transitions instead of treating Falgravn as a single-room fight.

Falgravn prisoner rescue and Hard Mode

In the lower vault, the Blood Dome periodically opens access to upper prisoner cells. Watch which cells are targeted, kill the torturers and save the prisoners before the dome closes. Failed rescues send dangerous torturers into the main encounter. Assign a small rescue team so the remaining players maintain boss control.

Learn the mechanics on Normal before moving to Veteran and the separate Hard Modes. Kyne’s Aegis gear and achievements depend on the difficulty and bosses completed. The three fights reward coordination much more than trying to ignore mechanics.
