Oogie Boogie Contract Quest is the live Week 2 Season of Scares mission in Disney Dreamlight Valley, available from September 30 after you finish A Halloween Invasion. It begins with a new mailbox letter, sends you back through the Strange Mirror, gives you the Ghost Lantern and ends with a Snake and Spider Stew recipe inside Oogie Boogie’s lair.
Completing Oogie Boogie Contract Quest brings you one step closer to unlocking Oogie Boogie, but there’s still more to do before he joins your Valley. This is the second of six weekly quests in the Season of Scares event. The next quest, The Ghost in the Portrait, became available on October 7 and allows players to unlock Zero as a permanent companion.

How to start Oogie Boogie Contract Quest
Week 2 does not start by simply standing beside the Strange Mirror. After A Halloween Invasion is fully complete, check your mailbox and open the message titled Want Another Try?. The Lucky Wheel Ticket attached to that letter is the item that triggers the next stage.
Take the ticket through the Strange Mirror in Scrooge McDuck’s Store, speak to Oogie Boogie upstairs and hand it over. Use the crank beside the Lucky Wheel, then continue the conversation when Oogie changes the result and traps you in his contract.
How to use the Ghost Lantern
Oogie Boogie gives you the Ghost Lantern during Oogie Boogie Contract Quest. Open Wardrobe, go to Accessories and equip the lantern, then wear one of the Lock, Shock or Barrel masks from the first weekly quest.
Three Ghosties appear in the lair. One is on the upper level and the other two are downstairs. Keep the Ghost Lantern equipped and run directly into each Ghostie to collect it. Removing the lantern makes the ghosts disappear from view until you equip it again.
Should you obey or defy Oogie Boogie?
After catching the Ghosties, leave the lair and return to the Valley. The quest gives you a choice: obey Oogie Boogie by placing five Halloween-tagged furniture items, or defy him by placing five cute-tagged items.
Either option advances Oogie Boogie Contract Quest. Use the quest filters in Furniture Mode to show valid Halloween or cute items rather than guessing which decorations count.
Where to release the three Ghosties
| Ghostie | Location | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| First | Mickey’s House | Speak to Mickey inside his house |
| Second | Merlin’s Library | Speak to Merlin inside the library |
| Third | Chez Remy | Speak to Remy, then chase and recapture the loose Ghostie |
Make sure you have a captured Ghostie in your inventory before speaking to each character. The quest requires you to release one in Mickey’s House, Merlin’s Library and Chez Remy before returning to Oogie Boogie.
The third Ghostie escapes instead of staying put. Follow it around Chez Remy and run into it to recapture it, then speak to Remy before heading back to the mirror.
Snake and Spider Stew recipe
Follow Oogie Boogie to the green cauldron inside his lair. The nearby ingredient stall contains everything needed to cook Snake and Spider Stew, so there’s no need to search the Valley. You can also inspect the old recipe written on the nearby pillar, which provides a riddle explaining the three ingredients.
- 1 Super Salty Seaweed
- 1 Oogie Boogie’s Eggs
- 1 Mushy Banana
Add all three ingredients to the cauldron to make Snake and Spider Stew, then hand it to Oogie Boogie. That final conversation completes Oogie Boogie Contract Quest.
Oogie Boogie Contract Quest Rewards
Completing Oogie Boogie Contract Quest rewards you with the Ghost Well, a Halloween-themed furniture item. You’ll also receive the Ghost Lantern accessory and five U-Carve-It Pumpkins during the quest, which you can keep after finishing Oogie Boogie’s tasks.
The Ghost Lantern is obtained when Oogie Boogie sends you to capture the three Ghosties, while the pumpkins are provided for the Valley decorating objective.
Finishing this quest doesn’t unlock Oogie Boogie or Zero immediately. Instead, it completes Week 2 of Season of Scares and allows you to continue with The Ghost in the Portrait, which became available on October 7 and rewards Zero as a permanent companion.
Oogie Boogie himself becomes available after completing all six weekly quests, with the final challenge scheduled for October 28.
Oogie Boogie Contract Quest Not Appearing or Not Progressing
If Oogie Boogie Contract Quest isn’t appearing, make sure you’ve completed A Halloween Invasion before checking your mailbox. The second quest begins when you collect the Lucky Wheel Ticket from Oogie Boogie’s letter titled Want Another Try?
You’ll also need Peaceful Meadow, Scrooge McDuck’s Store and Chez Remy unlocked to access the Season of Scares questline.
Mickey Missing During Oogie Boogie Contract Quest
If Mickey isn’t inside his house when you need to release a Ghostie, check whether you’ve completed A Dream Come True. Gameloft has confirmed that finishing this quest is necessary for Mickey to appear in his house during The Oogie Boogie Contract.
Once A Dream Come True is complete, return to Mickey’s House and continue the Ghostie objective.
Ghosties Still Appearing After Completing the Quest
Gameloft’s October 8 hotfix addressed an issue where Ghosties could remain in Mickey’s House or Merlin’s Library after completing the quest.
If you’re still encountering lingering Ghosties, install the latest game update and restart Disney Dreamlight Valley before checking those locations again. This fix concerns Ghosties remaining after quest completion rather than the separate issue with Mickey being unavailable.
Can You Complete Oogie Boogie Contract Quest After November 4?
Yes, provided you started A Halloween Invasion before the Season of Scares event deadline on November 4, 2026.
Gameloft has confirmed that players who begin the first quest before the deadline can complete the remaining Oogie Boogie quests at their own pace, even after the event ends. You’ll still be able to unlock both Oogie Boogie and Zero through the questline.
For the official six-week event dates and Season of Scares rules, see Gameloft’s Season of Scares announcement.
