- Make sure Peaceful Meadow, Scrooge McDuck’s Store and Chez Remy are unlocked, then check your in-game Mail.
- Go to Scrooge McDuck’s Store, speak with Scrooge and investigate the Strange Mirror.
- Enter the mirror and go upstairs to meet Oogie Boogie.
- Try the Lucky Wheel, then speak with Oogie Boogie again when it fails.
- Start Whack-a-Pumpkin and smash pumpkins with the Royal Pickaxe until you have 10 Fear Essence.
- Use the Fear Essence to repair and spin the Lucky Wheel.
- Return to the Valley and clear the Oogie Boogie Bugs from Mickey’s and Goofy’s houses.
- Break all eight Trick or Treat Pumpkins around the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow.
- Return through the Strange Mirror, give Oogie Boogie the Fear Essence requested by your quest tracker and spin the Lucky Wheel again.
- Open the reward chest to finish the Week 1 quest.

Gameloft released an official hotfix on October 8, 2026 for a progression bug in A Halloween Invasion Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Claiming the Lucky Wheel Prize could fail to update the quest, leaving players stuck instead of moving on to the next objective.
Gameloft’s October 8 hotfix notes list that problem as fixed. If your quest stopped after the Lucky Wheel Prize, install the latest update and load back into the quest before repeating earlier steps. The walkthrough below remains the correct route once the objective advances again.
How to get 10 Fear Essence for the Lucky Wheel
Fear Essence is the first thing that can slow the quest down. Follow Oogie Boogie to the Whack-a-Pumpkin area, equip your Royal Pickaxe and use the nearby switch to start the minigame. Smash the pumpkins that appear and pick up the Fear Essence drops.

The bugs are confined to those two houses, so there is no outdoor biome search for this step.
