ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List includes 34 playable planes at launch: 32 from the base game, the F-14A pre-order aircraft and the Season 1 ADFX-02 Morgan -PIXY-. The campaign starts with the F/A-18C Hornet, most jets are purchased with MRP, and a handful need story progress or a separate entitlement.
You can see every aircraft, its role, first-copy price and unlock method below. The roster includes the new FA-36 Game, EA-36 Barricader and X-40 Nightmare, plus aircraft missing from older lists such as the A-6E Intruder, Gripen E and Su-47 Berkut.
ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List: All 34 Planes and Unlocks

The ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List has 12 Fighters, 13 Multirole aircraft, six Attackers and three Electronic Warfare aircraft. The prices shown are for a first campaign copy, not the cost of duplicate planes for wingmen. A free aircraft is marked as such, while the two bonus jets have no normal MRP purchase price.

The ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List includes distinct models such as the F/A-18E and F/A-18F Super Hornet, and the F-14A is separate from the F-14D Super Tomcat. That can be easy to miss if you are working from a short promotional roster rather than the playable Aircraft Tree.
How to unlock planes in the ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List
Open the campaign Aircraft Tree to buy planes with Military Result Points (MRP). Aircraft, special weapons and upgrade parts sit on connected branches, so having enough MRP for a jet does not necessarily make its node immediately available. You may need to buy the earlier nodes along that route first. Our Aircraft Tree guide covers the progression system.
You start with the F/A-18C Hornet for free. The A-6E Intruder is another no-cost campaign unlock: clear Mission 14, “Two on the Run,” and it becomes available afterward. You do not have to purchase either aircraft with MRP.
Of the 34 entries in the ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List, 30 paid first copies add up to 8,900,000 MRP in aircraft prices. That figure excludes the parts and weapons you may need along the tree, as well as any extra aircraft you purchase for wingmen. Buying the entire tree will cost more than the aircraft-only total. If you need extra funds, use our MRP farming guide for replay options.
ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List: Post-Campaign Aircraft
Three planes from the ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List become available after Mission 30, “Song of Wings.” The FA-36 Game costs 750,000 MRP, the EA-36 Barricader costs 750,000 MRP, and the X-40 Nightmare costs 1,000,000 MRP. You still need to reach their Aircraft Tree nodes and have the required MRP after the story is complete.
The X-40 has a further reported gate: owning at least one of the F-22A Raptor, F-35C Lightning II or Su-57 Felon. All three cost 550,000 MRP for their first copies. The X-40 is not a free reward for watching the credits; you must buy it once you meet its conditions.
For individual unlock paths, see FA-36 Game, EA-36 Barricader and X-40 Nightmare. The F-35C Lightning II also has its own guide if you are building toward the late-game multirole branch.

ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List: F-14A and ADFX-02 Morgan
The F-14A Tomcat is the pre-order aircraft, not the same jet as the F-14D on the Aircraft Tree. Its availability comes from the pre-order entitlement rather than an MRP purchase. If you pre-ordered, check that the relevant bonus content is installed and attached to the account you are playing with. Read our F-14A unlock guide for the bonus details.
The ADFX-02 Morgan -PIXY- comes from the Season 1 Premium Ace Pass in Ace Combat Online. Bandai Namco says the aircraft is a Level 1 premium reward, and players with a qualifying Deluxe Edition voucher can redeem that voucher for the season they choose. The Morgan is immediately usable through the pass in Online, but Campaign use only opens after you have completed all campaign missions. It is not a standard Aircraft Tree purchase.
The ADFX-02 Morgan -PIXY- guide covers the Premium Ace Pass route. If you are comparing purchases, check the season attached to your pass before assuming the plane has been added to your campaign hangar.
ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List: Picking a Role for Each Mission
The ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List is easier to use when you match the plane to the briefing. Fighters such as the F-15C, F-22A and Su-57 are strong choices for air-to-air fights. Attackers such as the A-10C and Su-34 suit missions full of ground targets. Multirole jets like the Rafale M and F-35C can handle objectives that move between air and surface targets.
Electronic Warfare aircraft such as the EA-6B and EA-18G specialise in supporting a squadron and interfering with enemy systems. Their special weapons and available upgrade parts affect how you use them, so check the loadout before spending MRP simply to climb to a more expensive aircraft. Our best aircraft guide compares the stronger choices for different mission types.
ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List in Campaign and Online
The ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List covers both Campaign and Ace Combat Online, but the two modes have separate progression systems. Buying a fighter in the campaign Aircraft Tree does not automatically purchase that jet in Online mode. Online aircraft come through its own mercenary progression and rewards. The Ace Pass Morgan is a special entitlement with its own Campaign restriction.
If you want to change how your aircraft look rather than which one you fly, aircraft skins and how to equip them are covered separately. Skins do not add another aircraft type to the 34-plane total.
Related Guides
The ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft List gives you all 34 playable aircraft without mixing pre-order bonuses and paid pass rewards into normal Aircraft Tree purchases. Start with the free Hornet, plan the branches you want, and save the high-MRP originals for after Mission 30. If a plane is missing from your hangar, check its campaign progress, tree prerequisites and bonus entitlement before spending more MRP.
