Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 is a white-and-gold controller for Switch 2, original Switch, OLED and Lite. It’s wireless-only and cannot scan amiibo. There’s no rumble or headset jack, and its HOME button won’t wake a sleeping Switch 2.

This is model NSX-252, due in Japan in November 2026 at ¥8,980 including tax. Bluetooth 5.0, TMR sticks, motion controls and a roughly ten-hour battery are its main attractions. The missing features are worth knowing before choosing it over Nintendo’s Pro Controller.

The exact product number is NSX-252, with Japanese JAN barcode 4961818045798. HORI Japan lists a November 2026 launch and a tax-inclusive MSRP of ¥8,980. That is its Japanese manufacturer price, not a converted or confirmed UK retail price.

HORI Japan specifies November, not an exact day for this model. No UK launch date or British RRP is confirmed on its product page. Check the NSX-252 model number carefully: HORI also sells older Zelda-themed pads with different specifications.

Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 compatibility

Yes. HORI explicitly supports four console families: Nintendo Switch 2, original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch OLED. This is a wireless controller, so you can use it with compatible games on those systems without a wired controller connection.

System NSX-252 supported?
Nintendo Switch 2 Yes
Nintendo Switch Yes
Nintendo Switch OLED Yes
Nintendo Switch Lite Yes
Windows PC No, according to HORI

The Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 uses Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless play. HORI specifically says it cannot be used as a wired controller, even though a USB cable comes in the box. The included approximately two-metre USB-A to USB-C cable is for charging.

HORI also explicitly excludes Windows PC compatibility. Bluetooth support doesn’t make it an official PC controller, and the USB cable is for charging rather than wired inputs.

Can the Zelda HORIPAD Turbo scan amiibo?

No. The new model has no NFC functionality for reading or writing amiibo. That is particularly relevant to Zelda players because the Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time supports compatible amiibo for in-game masks.

To use an amiibo, switch to a Nintendo controller with NFC, such as compatible Joy-Con or a Pro Controller, for the scan. You can return to the Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 for normal gameplay afterwards.

Our Ocarina of Time Switch 2 amiibo guide covers the figures and rewards. No settings change can add NFC hardware to HORI’s controller.

Battery life, Bluetooth range and charging

HORI specifies around 10 hours of continuous use, approximately three hours to charge and a wireless range of up to 10 metres. These are approximate figures; battery life and connection range can vary with your surroundings and use.

The controller weighs about 235 g and measures roughly 14.5 × 11.4 × 5.7 cm. Its rechargeable battery means you don’t need to buy disposable AA batteries, unlike the separately sold HORI electric Ocarina.

The Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 comes with a USB charging cable. Update Switch 2 to its latest system software before connecting it. Nintendo Switch Online isn’t required just to pair a controller, although GameChat has separate account and service conditions.

Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 features

The 2026 controller has TMR analogue sticks, which use non-contact magnetic sensing to reduce wear-related input issues. HORI also lists a gyroscope and accelerometer for motion controls, plus programmable rear buttons and button-assignment features.

Turbo repeats an input while you hold a button; Turbo Hold keeps repeating after you let go. HORI’s online manual, which expressly includes NSX-252, lists 5, 10 or 20 inputs per second. The C button is for Switch 2 GameChat, subject to Nintendo’s service requirements.

The Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 has TMR sticks, a Switch 2 C button and the newer Turbo controls. HORI’s NSX-252-compatible manual explains button assignments and changing the repetition speed.

Rumble, headphones and waking the console

There are three limitations worth knowing before buying. The pad has no vibration, no headset microphone jack and no console wake-up function. In particular, pressing HOME on this controller will not wake Nintendo Switch 2 from sleep.

That makes it different from Nintendo’s officially branded Zelda anniversary Pro Controller. If NFC scanning, vibration or sleep wake-up are essential, check our Zelda 40th Anniversary Pro Controller guide before choosing the HORI accessory.

The gold Zelda design and motion controls are appealing, but if rumble, amiibo scanning or sleep wake-up are essential, Nintendo’s own controller is the better feature match.

Is the Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 available in the UK?

HORI Japan lists NSX-252 at ¥8,980 for November 2026. A UK manufacturer price or launch date for this exact model isn’t confirmed. Listings for the older Zelda Wireless HORIPAD aren’t evidence that the new Turbo model is on sale in Britain.

Look for NSX-252 when shopping. The Zelda HORI Wireless HORIPAD Turbo Switch 2 offers wireless play and compatibility across Switch consoles, but lacks NFC, rumble and sleep wake-up, so isn’t a full Pro Controller replacement.
