WoW Forever Barrow Deeps is a level-60 raid for ten players opening December 9, 2026. Blizzard has confirmed eight bosses and approaches connected to Mount Hyjal, Winterspring and Blackmaw Hold. The raid is hidden beneath Mount Hyjal in the prison that held Illidan Stormrage for 10,000 years.
That gives smaller guilds a ten-player target while the 20-player Hyjal Summit and 40-player Onyxia raids demand bigger groups. The immediate questions are where to meet, whether an attunement is needed and what your party can do before December 9. Here’s the official information available ahead of the first raid opening.
WoW Forever Barrow Deeps location and entrances
Barrow Deeps sits underneath the Mount Hyjal region of Kalimdor. Blizzard explicitly names Mount Hyjal, Winterspring and Blackmaw Hold as connected entrance approaches. It has not published exact portal coordinates or a complete route map showing where all three connections meet. The safest plan is to identify a shared approach once the finished raid is accessible!
Mount Hyjal is an expanded zone in Forever, covered in our WoW Forever new zones guide. Winterspring is in northern Kalimdor. Blackmaw Hold is the new level 55–60 dungeon in Azshara, making it useful to explore while gearing. Blizzard says the furbolg city’s deepest tunnels can lead farther below Azeroth, explaining its connection to the prison.

Blizzard has not described a separate Barrow Deeps key or attunement chain at the time of writing. It has, however, expressly confirmed that every Onyxia raider needs a Drakefire Amulet in their inventory. How many bosses are in WoW Forever Barrow Deeps?
Eight bosses are confirmed for the 10-player raid. Its story centres on what became of the prison’s occupants after Illidan’s long incarceration and how its wardens intend to contain the threat inside. Blizzard’s October 20 overview does not include all boss names, ability descriptions, required kill order or confirmed combat strategies.
WoW Forever Barrow Deeps should be treated as a newly designed raid. Familiar Warcraft lore provides context, but an old character’s abilities cannot be used as evidence for a new encounter. Your party can prepare general supplies and roles without buying specialised resistance gear for attacks that haven’t been announced.
How to prepare for WoW Forever Barrow Deeps
Forever launches on November 4, giving players just over five weeks to level before the first raids open. First, get ten reliable players to level 60. Agree on who will tank, heal and deal damage, leaving room for the group to adjust once the live boss abilities are known. A roster built entirely around guessed mechanics is not much help on opening night.
Next, use the new five-player dungeons to practise and upgrade equipment. Blackmaw Hold is particularly relevant geographically, while Shaper’s Terrace in Un’Goro is another level 58–60 instance. Agree on a travel route and meeting point. WoW Forever Barrow Deeps has more than one announced approach, but the precise way those paths connect has not been demonstrated in Blizzard’s published guide. Coordinate before raid night so you don’t split the group between Winterspring and Azshara while searching for a portal. We will keep this updated as we have the information.

When does WoW Forever Barrow Deeps reset?
Blizzard currently plans a weekly reset for all three initial raids, starting after their December 9 opening. A precise UK raid unlock hour is not stated in the October 20 overview. WoW Forever Barrow Deeps is not part of the November 4 five-player dungeon launch.

Is it inside Blackmaw Hold? It is beneath Mount Hyjal, with Blackmaw Hold named as a connected entrance route along with Winterspring and Mount Hyjal.
Are the eight boss strategies known? The boss count is official. Detailed encounter strategies and a final route need verified gameplay after release.
Does it need attunement? Blizzard has not specified a separate Barrow Deeps attunement in its raid announcement, unlike the confirmed Onyxia requirement.
