The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode turns Bigby Wolf’s investigation into a black-and-white detective film. Choose it at the start or switch to it later through Gameplay settings. Telltale confirms you can go back to colour whenever you like.

This is a visual setting, not a separate campaign. The story, dialogue choices and five original episodes remain the same, and you can return to Fabletown’s vibrant neon colours without restarting.

What Does The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode Do?

The normal remaster keeps the original’s bold colours and neon lighting. Noir Mode removes that colour and gives the same scenes a monochrome treatment, putting more emphasis on shadows and contrast.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode can give familiar interrogations and street scenes a different feel. It’s worth trying for its film-noir atmosphere, but you can switch back when you want the game’s original palette.

How to Turn The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode On and Off

You can change between colour and black and white in the same playthrough. There’s no need to make a second save or unlock another campaign.

Select colour or Noir when you begin. To change it during play, open Gameplay settings and toggle Noir Mode. Telltale confirmed this route for players who want to change the appearance later.

Can You Switch Between Colour and Black and White?

Yes. Try a crime scene in black and white, then switch back to colour from Gameplay settings without losing progress or changing the outcome of your story decisions.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode doesn’t restore the old 2013 graphics. Both visual styles use the updated character models, environments and lighting from this release.

Does Noir Mode Change the Story or Your Choices?

No. The visual filter doesn’t add dialogue options, secret routes, a new difficulty or alternate endings. Bigby’s story and the decisions you make through the five episodes stay intact.

Those episodes are Faith, Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep’s Clothing and Cry Wolf. Your decisions across them remain the important story choices. Telltale also confirms those defining choices can carry into The Wolf Among Us 2 through a Telltale Account, as explained in our sequel choices guide.

Noir Mode Compared With the Other Remaster Improvements

Black-and-white presentation is only one part of the release. Improved character models, lighting, environments, animation and remastered audio are features of the game itself. They don’t disappear when you switch the optional monochrome style off.

Remastered audioUpdated sound presentation

The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode is also separate from the five playable deleted scenes. Those are restored sequences in Extras, not something you unlock by switching the screen to black and white. Our deleted scenes guide shows how to play them.

Which Platforms Include Noir Mode?

The remaster launched digitally on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox One on 29 October, with Xbox Series X|S support through backwards compatibility. The mode is one of the game’s advertised features on those released versions.

Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 releases have been postponed. Physical editions are planned for early 2027. Our release dates and platforms article has the current breakdown, and the Switch delay guide covers Nintendo’s status.

Is The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode Worth Using?

Try the mode during a conversation or investigation, especially if you’re returning to the game. You can compare the styles as you play rather than committing to black and white for an entire episode.

For everything else the remaster changes, see our changes vs original guide. The Wolf Among Us Remastered Noir Mode is an optional presentation choice; the upgraded visuals, audio and bonus scenes come with either setting.
