The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 launched on 8 October 2026, bringing Ubisoft’s open-world racer to Nintendo’s latest console just one day after Season 11 opened the free Kauai island. You can buy the Nintendo release digitally or as a physical Game-Key Card, but there are a few differences from the PlayStation, Xbox and PC versions worth knowing before you pay.
If you’re already playing Motorfest elsewhere, the biggest questions are whether you need to purchase it again and what happens to your existing garage. Your supported progression can follow you through your Ubisoft account, but purchases from other platform stores don’t transfer. The Switch 2 version also has restrictions on crossplay and Year 4 Pass availability, so here’s what the launch actually includes.
The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 release date and available editions
The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 released on Thursday, 8 October 2026. Ubisoft offers a digital edition on Nintendo eShop and a physical retail edition. The game features the Hawaiian islands of O’ahu, Maui and Kauai, more than 30 themed Playlists, vehicle collecting and community TrackForge creations. It launched with the free Season 11 updates already active.

One detail about the physical version is particularly important: Ubisoft confirms it’s a Game-Key Card. The card acts as the game key, but you still have to download the game onto the console. Buying the box doesn’t mean you can avoid the installation or skip the internet requirement.
Is there a free The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 upgrade?
No free upgrade or cross-buy offer has been announced. There was no original Nintendo Switch release to upgrade from, and ownership of a PlayStation, Xbox or PC copy doesn’t give you a free Nintendo Switch 2 licence. If you want to play the game on Nintendo’s console, you’ll need to obtain that version separately.
Cross-save is supported, though. Sign in to The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 with the same Ubisoft account linked to your existing Motorfest progression and you can continue your supported career progress. That’s different from owning the game or its DLC on two platforms. Ubisoft specifically says purchases through PlayStation, Xbox, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store and Steam do not transfer to Switch 2.
Does The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 include Season 11 and Kauai?
Yes. Season 11 arrived on 7 October and added Kauai as a free island, with the Kauai Expeditions Playlist and new off-road activities. Ubisoft says Switch 2 will receive future free game updates at the same time as other platforms. You can explore Kauai without purchasing the Year 4 Pass or the Tomb Raider expansion.
The separate Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau adventure is paid content. It has its own island, Playlist and five exclusive vehicles, and Ubisoft confirms the standalone DLC is available on Nintendo eShop. Ni’ihau may be visible in the wider world, but that doesn’t mean you’ve unlocked the adventure itself.
For more on the free update, see our Season 11 overview and Kauai Expeditions walkthrough.
Which Year Passes and DLC are available on Switch 2?
At launch, Ubisoft lists the Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 Passes, plus the Chase Squad, RC Frenzy and Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau DLC packs. Currency packs are available as well. The Year 4 Pass and all car packs are not available at launch, and Ubisoft hasn’t announced when or whether those packs will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2.
This is worth checking if you’re moving over with a large collection on another platform. Your Ubisoft-linked progression and the Nintendo store’s DLC catalogue are different things. Buying the base game on Switch 2 won’t grant a Year 4 Pass you already purchased elsewhere, and the Year 4 Pass isn’t currently sold on the new platform anyway.
The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 performance and download requirements
Ubisoft states that The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 runs at 1080p and 30 FPS in both TV and handheld modes. Nintendo lists a 58.5 GB game download, though an update can change the amount of space needed over time. The official eShop size is the figure to check immediately before installing.
A persistent internet connection and Ubisoft account are required to play, including outside multiplayer. For multiplayer activities, Nintendo Switch Online is also required. Ubisoft confirms that the Free Trial and Friend Pass aren’t available on the Switch 2 version. Our Switch 2 download-size guide covers the storage requirements.
Does The Crew Motorfest Switch 2 have full crossplay?
No. Ubisoft’s launch FAQ says full crossplay isn’t supported. Switch 2 players can compete with other platforms in Grand Race and Demolition Royale, while Summit Contest and Event leaderboards are shared across platforms. TrackForge courses can also be discovered and played across systems, regardless of where their creators built them.
Those shared features don’t mean you can invite a friend on PlayStation or PC into every Crew session or multiplayer mode. If playing with friends is the reason you’re buying the Nintendo edition, read our Switch 2 cross-save and crossplay guide before making the purchase.
Can you import vehicles from The Crew 2 on Switch 2?
Ubisoft confirms that Collection Import from The Crew 2 is not available on Nintendo Switch 2. That’s separate from Motorfest cross-progression. You can still access supported progress from an existing Motorfest career using the same Ubisoft account, but directly bringing over a garage from The Crew 2 is not a Switch 2 feature.
