Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact: Requirements, Timer and Fixes

Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact usually means one of three things: Chapter VII Act III is not complete, the previous Sword Spirit chapter did not fully register, or you are still inside the real-time wait between daily quest stages. Swords and Secrets is permanent, but it is deliberately paced across seven calendar days.

The first check for Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact is the exact prerequisite. HoYoverse requires Adventure Rank 18 or above and completion of Chapter VII: Act III, White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking. Completing Act II is enough for Upstream Variations, but not for Swords and Secrets.

How to fix Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact

1. Confirm your account is Adventure Rank 18 or higher.
2. Check that Chapter VII: Act III, White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking, is complete.
3. Open the quest list and make sure Swords and Secrets is not already accepted automatically.
4. If you completed a Sword Spirit chapter today, look for the next-quest countdown.
5. Return after the real-time timer expires; changing the in-game clock does not skip it.
6. If the timer ended, revisit the quest menu and use the Divine Sense Compass for the newly unlocked chapter.

For Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact, the automatic acceptance matters. HoYoverse describes the World Quest as automatically accepted once the criteria are met, so you should not be searching Snezhnograd for a separate blue exclamation mark as though it were a traditional manually accepted quest.

Why changing the clock does not work

The full Swords and Secrets chain takes seven calendar days, which is the reason Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact often appears after players finish one short chapter and immediately look for the next. This is a real progression timer, not an objective that says “wait until tomorrow” in the normal in-game-clock sense.

If the interface shows a countdown, the correct action is simply to return after it expires. Repeated relogs and clock changes will not make the next Sword Spirit chapter appear early.

What if Act III is complete and there is no quest?

If Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact persists with Act III complete, check whether the quest is already in your log under World Quests. Also inspect any active story sequence that could be occupying a required NPC or location, then reload once after leaving that conflict.

The parent Swords and Secrets guide has the unlock requirements and final rewards, while Find the Sword Spirit in Genshin Impact covers the recurring search mechanic after the quest is active.

Do you need Vesna on your account?

No character pull requirement is listed for Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact. Swords and Secrets is a World Quest with its own unlock criteria. Owning Vesna is not part of HoYoverse’s stated requirements, and the quest reward remains obtainable as permanent content.

The Druzhna Special Dispatch Order does interact with Vesna’s flight presentation after use, but that does not turn Vesna ownership into a prerequisite for starting the quest.

Swords and Secrets vs Upstream Variations requirements

Quest	Main story gate	Extra gate
Swords and Secrets	Chapter VII: Act III	Adventure Rank 18+
Upstream Variations	Chapter VII: Act II	Tidesong Cavern Meeting Point Level 2

That difference explains many Swords and Secrets Not Unlocking in Genshin Impact searches from players who already have Vodyanitsa’s quest. Upstream Variations can unlock one Archon Quest act earlier, while Swords and Secrets waits for Act III.

Once the quest is active, use Swords and Secrets Day 4 and the other cluster guides only for the chapter you have actually reached instead of jumping ahead to later Sword Spirit locations.

HoYoverse lists the official Swords and Secrets requirements and seven-day structure on the official Genshin Impact website.
