Check your subscription dates through Jagex’s own account pages if you’re unsure. You can use an eligible existing character rather than starting again. Jagex also says the promotion doesn’t entitle existing subscribers to refunds.

RuneScape free membership December 2026 start and end dates
The promotion starts on Wednesday, December 2 and finishes on Saturday, December 12, 2026. Jagex describes it as a ten-day trial but says the exact opening and closing times will be confirmed later. An assumed midnight UK cutoff isn’t an official deadline.
After that window, members’ areas once again require ordinary membership. The trial doesn’t permanently unlock those areas or change the free-to-play parts of the existing game.
Does RuneScape free membership December 2026 include Old School RuneScape?
No. Jagex explicitly excludes OSRS members’ worlds. The ten-day trial only covers the modern RuneScape game. That distinction is important because standard paid memberships and temporary promotions don’t necessarily cover the same benefits.
December’s trial is also not a launch promotion for separate Reignited worlds. RuneScape Reignited was cancelled on October 15. The free access now accompanies updates to the game players already have.

Jagex hasn’t announced any mandatory redemption code or special activation button. When the promotion starts, follow its official instructions. Don’t enter your login details on a third-party page offering to unlock a free trial.

The ten days are a chance to try members’ quests, skills and locations. They don’t extend a paid subscription, and members’ access doesn’t remain free once the offer ends.
What else launches on December 2?
Jagex has retained the Adventure Guide and Remastered Journey Part I for December 2. These updates belong to the live RuneScape rather than Reignited. The exact full list of redesigned quests and tasks hasn’t been established in the post-cancellation announcement, so old promotional descriptions shouldn’t be treated as a final walkthrough.
The official RuneScape Plugin Hub launched on October 19, well before this trial. Quest Helper and several other supported plugins are already available and weren’t cancelled with Reignited.
