RuneScape boss drop rate buffs planned for late November 2026 would make rare rewards easier to obtain at Nex: Angel of Death, Solak, Croesus and several other bosses. Among the biggest changes in Jagex’s preview is the solo Praesul weapon rate, improving from 1/512 to 1/85 per eligible kill.
The changes are not live yet. Jagex shared the proposed rates on 30 October and may adjust them before launch. If you’re planning a boss grind, the important details are the specific reward and, for Angel of Death, the number of players in your group.
RuneScape boss drop rate buffs: comparison table
| Boss and reward | Current rate | Proposed rate |
|---|---|---|
| Nex: Angel of Death, Praesul weapon, solo | 1/512 | 1/85 |
| Nex: Angel of Death, Praesul weapon, seven-player group | 1/1,988 | 1/595 |
| Angel of Death, Blood Tentacle pet | 1/3,000 | 1/2,500 |
| Solak, either Blightbound Crossbow combined | 1/400 | 1/100 |
| Croesus, Foultorch, Sporehammer, Spore Sack or Scripture of Bik, each | 1/5,400 | 1/2,500 |
| Croesus, Cryptbloom armour pieces, each | 1/5,400 | 1/3,000 |
| Gate of Elidinis, Memory Dowser, Runic Attuner, Scripture of Elidinis or Eclipsed Soul codex | 1/480 | 1/256 |
| God Wars Dungeon 2, four named crests | 1/256 | 1/128 |
| King Black Dragon, Draconic Visage | 1/5,000 | 1/252 |
Each row refers to its named drop. These RuneScape boss drop rate buffs are not one global multiplier for all boss loot, and the rates should not be added together as if they guarantee every listed reward.

How much better are Nex: Angel of Death drops?
Praesul weapons are the standout change. Jagex proposes a 1/85 solo rate, down from 1/512 in the current table. For seven-player groups, the proposal is 1/595, improved from 1/1,988. Those group odds are not interchangeable with the solo figure.
The Blood Tentacle pet also receives better odds, moving from 1/3,000 to 1/2,500, with its pet threshold dropping from 600 to 500. The threshold change relates to pet progression and does not mean you’ll automatically get the pet on kill 500.
Solak Blightbound Crossbows: 1/100 combined chance
Solak’s combined chance for either Blightbound Crossbow would improve from 1/400 to 1/100. That’s a rate for receiving one of the two, not a separate 1/100 chance for each hand. Players hunting a particular crossbow should keep that distinction in mind.
Among these RuneScape boss drop rate buffs, this is an appealing improvement for players still missing their Blightbound collection pieces. Luck still matters, so even the new denominator is not a guaranteed kill count.
Are Croesus and Cryptbloom drops changing equally?
No. Croesus’s Foultorch, Sporehammer, Spore Sack and Scripture of Bik would each improve from 1/5,400 to 1/2,500. Cryptbloom armour pieces get a different adjustment, from 1/5,400 to 1/3,000.
If you’re farming Cryptbloom, use the armour figure. Applying the 1/2,500 chance to every rare item at Croesus would overstate what Jagex has proposed.
Which other bosses get better rare-item odds?
The Gate of Elidinis changes cover the Memory Dowser, Runic Attuner, Scripture of Elidinis and Eclipsed Soul codex, with each listed rate moving from 1/480 to 1/256. The Crest of Zaros, Crest of Seren, Crest of Sliske and Crest of Zamorak at God Wars Dungeon 2 move from 1/256 to 1/128.
The King Black Dragon’s Draconic Visage rate is also slated to improve sharply, from 1/5,000 to 1/252. These additional RuneScape boss drop rate buffs cover particular rewards; other drops from the same fights may have completely different odds.
Does 1/85 mean the item drops within 85 kills?
No. A 1/85 chance means the drop has that probability on an eligible roll. It doesn’t count down to a guaranteed reward after 85 kills. You can get lucky early or go far beyond the average without seeing the item.
This is especially important when comparing solo and seven-player Angel of Death kills. A better listed chance does not remove randomness, and group size changes which rate applies.
When will the RuneScape boss drop rate buffs go live?
Jagex is targeting late November 2026, but the 30 October design preview does not give a specific date. The studio says it will continue monitoring the balance and may adjust individual changes after player feedback.
For now, plan around the rates currently in the game. Once Jagex publishes the final update, this RuneScape boss drop rate buffs guide will need its proposed figures checked against the actual patch.
