Pokémon GO Party Play lets a host and one to three nearby Trainers form a temporary group, see each other on the map, complete shared Party Challenges, share supported item effects and charge Party Power during raids. A full party contains four Trainers, and the group can normally remain active for up to three hours.

Who can use Party Play?

Pokémon GO Party Play requires the participating Trainers to be physically near one another.

The host creates the lobby and can add between one and three other Trainers. The original feature requires eligible Trainer accounts, and some child-account configurations cannot host a party.

The official Party Play overview also uses Trainer level 20 as the access requirement.

If the Party tab is missing, check account eligibility and app version before assuming the feature has been removed.

How to host a party

Open your Trainer Profile and tap the Party tab.

Choose Create to make a Pokémon GO Party Play lobby.

The game displays a QR code and numerical Party Code. Nearby friends can scan or enter that code during the lobby window.

Once at least one other Trainer has joined, the host can tap Start.

Do not start walking away while everyone is still joining because the system expects party members to remain physically close.

How to join a party

Open Trainer Profile, choose the Party tab and tap Join Party.

Scan the host’s QR code or manually enter the numerical code.

Wait for the host to begin the Pokémon GO Party Play session.

When it starts, party-member avatars appear in the shared map interface and the Party tab shows group progress.

The code is for a nearby session rather than a global remote-party system.

Party sessions last up to three hours

A current Pokémon GO Party Play session can last up to three hours.

The game provides a warning as the time limit approaches.

If the host wants to leave while enough Trainers remain, another host can be selected. If fewer than two Trainers would remain, the party ends.

At the end, the game provides an activity summary showing individual and group contributions.

Party Challenges

When the party starts, the group chooses from several Party Challenges.

Tasks can involve catching Pokémon, spinning PokéStops or Gyms, completing raid-related actions and other shared gameplay.

Everyone contributes toward the same target.

When a Pokémon GO Party Play challenge is finished, the party receives its reward and the host can choose another challenge.

The available options and rewards can change, so do not expect one permanent challenge list.

Party Power in raids

Party Power is one of the strongest Pokémon GO Party Play bonuses.

During a Raid Battle with party members, Fast Attacks charge the Party Power meter. Once ready, activating Party Power boosts the next Charged Attack.

More party members contributing can make the bonus charge faster.

The bonus belongs to the Trainer, so it can continue onto the next Pokémon if the current attacker faints.

Share item effects

Party members can share certain item effects during an active session.

Open the Party tab, choose Share and select eligible items. Other party members receive a portion of the shared effect.

Pokémon GO Party Play can therefore stretch useful timed items across a group, and shared durations can stack up to the feature’s limits.

Check the preview before sharing so you know exactly what the party will receive.

Stay physically together

The feature monitors proximity to the host.

If someone moves too far away, that Trainer receives a warning and can eventually be removed from Pokémon GO Party Play.

This makes the system ideal for Community Days, raid routes and local meetups where everyone is actually walking together, rather than for friends playing in separate towns.

Best way to use Party Play

Create the party before starting the route, choose challenges that match what the group was already planning and use Party Power on raids whenever several members are participating.

Keep an eye on the three-hour timer during long events.

Pokémon GO Party Play works best as a layer over normal group play: it rewards catching and exploration you were already doing, while Party Challenges, item sharing and stronger Charged Attacks give the group extra value for staying together.
