Pokémon GO Ditto Event March 2026 – Pokopia Celebration
The Pokémon GO Ditto Event March 2026 is one of the most exciting themed events of the season, bringing costumed Ditto, boosted shiny opportunities, XP bonuses and collectible special backgrounds.
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to hunt Ditto, this is it. And we are excited!
Running as part of the wider March event calendar, this limited-time event gives players a rare opportunity to encounter new Ditto variants and increase their odds of finding both regular and Shiny Ditto.
Event Dates & Times
The Pokémon GO Ditto Event March 2026 – Pokopia Celebration will run from:
Tuesday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m.
to
Monday, March 16, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. (local time)
That gives you nearly a full week to maximise spawns and grind bonuses.
Costumed Ditto Debut
For the first time in Pokémon GO, we are seeing:
- Ditto wearing a hat
- Ditto wearing a cap
Both versions will appear during the event and may be encountered in the wild through the usual disguise mechanic.
Yes… if you’re lucky, you may even find a Shiny costumed Ditto.
Costumed variants are especially popular with collectors because they are often limited to specific events and may not return for months or even years.
If you’re building a rare collection, this is one to focus on.
How to Catch Ditto During the Event

Ditto still follows its classic disguise mechanic.
It will appear as a normal wild Pokémon. After catching it, the screen will display “Oh?” before transforming into Ditto.
During the event, disguise Pokémon may appear more frequently, increasing your effective odds.

Event Bonuses
This event is especially strong for XP grinders and shiny hunters.
2× XP for Spinning PokéStops
Great for players pushing levels.
10× XP for First-Time PokéStop Spins
Perfect for exploring new areas or travelling.
If you plan this strategically, this can result in huge XP gains over the week.
Increased Shiny Chances
The following Pokémon have increased shiny encounter chances during the event:
- Sudowoodo
- Zorua
This makes the event valuable even if you already have Ditto.
More shiny checks = more overall event value.
Special Background Raid Pokémon
During the event, certain three-star raid Pokémon may appear with a themed Special Background:
- Lapras
- Snorlax
- Dragonite
These background variants are cosmetic but highly collectible.
For Dragonite fans especially, this pairs well with the current Super Mega Dragonite raids happening this month.
See our Mega Dragonite Raid Guide here.
Free Ditto Avatar Item

Starting with this event, the Ditto Eye Mask avatar item will be available for free in the in-game shop.
It’s a small addition, but themed cosmetic items often become limited collectibles.
Is This the Best Time to Hunt Shiny Ditto?
Absoltuely yes.
While shiny rates are never officially confirmed, Ditto-focused events historically provide better effective odds simply because disguise Pokémon appear more often.
The more disguise Pokémon you catch, the higher your chance of triggering a Ditto — and therefore a Shiny Ditto.
For full shiny mechanics and odds, read our Shiny Ditto Pokémon GO 2026 guide.
Best Strategy for the Ditto Event
If you want to maximise this event:
- Catch every disguise Pokémon.
- Use Incense during busy spawn windows.
- Drop Lures in high-traffic PokéStop areas.
- Focus on Spotlight Hours if disguise Pokémon are featured.
- Spin new PokéStops to take advantage of 10× XP.
This event rewards active grinding.
