Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO first appeared during Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos – Global, when players battled it in Super Mega Raids. This October return is part of the regular Mega Raid rotation. How to get Mega Dragonite in Pokémon GO
To get Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO, you need to collect Dragonite Mega Energy and use it to Mega Evolve Dragonite.
Winning Mega Dragonite raids during October 14–20 is the main way to collect Dragonite Mega Energy. The raid reward contains Mega Energy, while the bonus catch encounter is with ordinary Dragonite rather than one that stays Mega Evolved.
After you’ve Mega Evolved Dragonite at least once, walking with an eligible Pokémon from its evolutionary line as your Buddy can also occasionally earn Dragonite Mega Energy. This is useful between raid rotations, but it doesn’t remove the need to collect Energy for the first Mega Evolution.
Once you’ve Mega Evolved Dragonite, you can wait for its rest period to Mega Evolve that same Pokémon again without spending Energy. If you don’t want to wait, Mega Energy can shorten the rest. Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO raid week is a good chance to stock up if you’re pursuing higher Mega Levels.
Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO October 2026 raid schedule
Mega Dragonite returns October 14–20, 2026. The new rotation begins at 10:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday, October 14. Mega Blastoise occupies the previous week, and Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y take over the following Wednesday. The October 14 evening Raid Hour features Dialga, not Mega Dragonite, so look for Mega Raid eggs rather than the five-star Raid Hour.

Best Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO raid counters
Ice-type attacks are the best answer to Mega Dragonite. Because Dragon and Flying are both weak to Ice, the effects stack to around 2.56× damage in Pokémon GO. Traditional type charts sometimes label this a “4× weakness”, but Pokémon GO uses a different battle multiplier. Rock, Dragon and Fairy attacks also work, though Ice is the clear first choice.

Mamoswine is a strong starting point for Trainers who don’t have every Legendary Pokémon. Shadow Mamoswine hits harder, while Galarian Darmanitan, Baxcalibur and Glaceon can fill the rest of an Ice team. White Kyurem is an excellent premium counter if you have access to its special move. Even without an optimised team, matching your attackers’ Ice moves to Mega Dragonite’s double weakness makes a big difference.

What is Mega Dragonite?
Mega Dragonite is the Mega Evolution of Dragonite.
Dragonite has always been one of Pokémon GO’s most recognizable Dragon-type Pokémon, but Mega Evolution gives it significantly greater battle power and access to the Mega Level system.
Mega Dragonite was introduced to Pokémon GO during Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos – Global in February and March 2026. It appeared in Super Mega Raid Battles, which Pokémon GO described as more demanding than normal Mega Raids.
Mega Dragonite can also progress all the way to the newer Super Max Level.
What type is Mega Dragonite in Pokémon GO?
Mega Dragonite retains Dragonite’s Dragon and Flying typing.
That means Mega Dragonite has several important weaknesses that players should consider when battling it in raids.
Its Dragon/Flying typing creates a double weakness to Ice. The Pokémon GO multiplier is approximately 2.56×, not literally 4× as in the main-series type chart. This is why Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO counter teams should prioritise Ice moves.
Mega Dragonite is also vulnerable to Dragon, Fairy and Rock-type damage.

You do not need Mega Dragonite to already be at Super Max Level before the attack appears.
Eligible Mega-Evolved Pokémon receive their additional Charged Attack regardless of their current Mega Level, although increasing Mega Level makes the attack stronger.
Does Outrage+ replace one of Dragonite’s moves?
No.
Outrage+ is an additional Charged Attack rather than a replacement for one of Dragonite’s normal moves.
Mega Dragonite keeps its existing attacks and receives Outrage+ as an extra move while it remains Mega Evolved.
This makes the new mechanic particularly useful because players do not need to sacrifice an established Dragonite moveset simply to gain access to Outrage+.
Can Mega Dragonite reach Super Max Level?
Yes.
Mega Dragonite was one of the first Pokémon confirmed to be capable of reaching Super Max Level when it debuted during Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos.
Players can increase Mega Level in two ways.
The first is by repeatedly Mega Evolving Dragonite.
The second is by spending significant amounts of Mega Energy to increase its Mega Level immediately.
Because Outrage+ becomes stronger as Mega Level increases, progressing Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO toward Super Max Level now provides a direct battle benefit.
Do you need Super Max Level to use Outrage+?
No.
Mega Dragonite receives Outrage+ regardless of its current Mega Level.
Super Max Level is not a requirement for unlocking the additional attack.
Instead, Mega Level determines how powerful Outrage+ becomes.
This means players can begin using Outrage+ immediately after gaining access to Mega Dragonite while continuing to improve the attack through Mega Level progression.
Can Mega Dragonite use Outrage+ in GO Battle League?
Yes.
Pokémon GO has confirmed that eligible Mega-Evolved Pokémon can use their additional Charged Attacks in GO Battle League.
That means Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO can use Outrage+ in supported Mega GO Battle League formats.

Additional Charged Attacks cannot currently be used while attacking Pokémon defending Gyms.

Is Mega Dragonite worth powering up?
Yes, particularly if you already have a strong Dragonite.

The introduction of Outrage+ makes increasing Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO Mega Levels considerably more meaningful than simply reducing Mega Evolution cooldowns or improving existing Mega bonuses.
Can Mega Dragonite be shiny?
Players can encounter Shiny-eligible Pokémon through Mega Raid content when the corresponding shiny is available.
The older Mega Finale event included special Shiny bonuses. Those event-specific GO Pass Deluxe bonuses should not be assumed to apply to the October 2026 raids.
Because a Mega Evolution itself is temporary, players are ultimately catching the base Pokémon after completing Mega Raid content rather than permanently catching a Pokémon in its Mega-Evolved form.

The best source of Dragonite Mega Energy is completing Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO raids during the October 14–20 return.
Pokémon GO confirms that Mega Raid Battles award the largest amounts of Mega Energy. Actual payouts depend on the raid, so don’t expect a guaranteed fixed number from one battle. Plan for multiple wins if you’re beginning from zero Energy.
After you have previously Mega Evolved a Pokémon in the Dragonite evolutionary line, you can also occasionally earn the corresponding Mega Energy by walking with an eligible Buddy Pokémon.
This is useful for players trying to progress Mega Dragonite Pokémon GO toward higher Mega Levels without relying exclusively on future raid rotations.
