Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters should exploit Mega Chandelure’s Water, Ground, Rock, Dark and Ghost weaknesses. Mega Chandelure appears on October 31, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Bring a conventional Mega Evolution to break the boss’s special shields, not just high-CP attackers.
Pokémon GO recommends at least eight trainers for Super Mega Raids, each bringing a Mega-Evolved Pokémon. That guidance matters for Chandelure’s shield phase, even though the live minimum group size for this particular boss is not yet established. This is a battle guide for that encounter. For research rewards, Raid Passes, Shiny bonuses and paid tickets, use our Raid Day overview. There is no confirmed universal minimum group size for this particular boss. Eight well-prepared Trainers with eligible Mega Evolutions remain the recommended starting point.
Best Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters and moves
| Attacker | Effective attack type | Useful move combination |
|---|---|---|
| Primal Kyogre (damage only; does not break shields) | Water | Waterfall / Origin Pulse or Surf |
| Primal Groudon (damage only; does not break shields) | Ground | Mud Shot / Precipice Blades or Earthquake |
| Mega Tyranitar | Dark or Rock | Bite / Brutal Swing or Smack Down / Stone Edge |
| Hydreigon | Dark | Bite / Brutal Swing |
| Rhyperior | Rock | Smack Down / Rock Wrecker or Stone Edge |
| Garchomp | Ground | Mud Shot / Earth Power or Earthquake |
| Rampardos | Rock | Smack Down / Rock Slide |
| Mega Gengar | Ghost | Shadow Claw / Shadow Ball |
For Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters, the Fast and Charged Attacks matter as much as the species you’ve chosen. Water, Ground and Rock exploit Chandelure’s Fire typing, while Dark and Ghost exploit its Ghost typing. Some strong moves listed above are exclusive or require an Elite TM; use an available move of the same effective type if you lack them. Don’t use an Elite TM just because one event is approaching.

Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters: Weaknesses and resistances
Mega Chandelure’s Ghost/Fire typing determines the type matchup. Water, Ground, Rock, Dark and Ghost attacks all deal super-effective damage. Normal and Fighting moves are poor choices because Chandelure is a Ghost type. Grass and Bug moves also struggle against Fire. If a recommended attacker does not have an appropriate Fast and Charged Attack, switch it to the correct set before entering.
Ghost attackers such as Mega Gengar can deal considerable damage but may faint quickly when Chandelure uses Ghost attacks. Hydreigon and Dark Tyranitar can be sturdier choices against that kind of damage. A mix of strong attackers and sturdy Dark types can help you survive repeated raids.

Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters: How to break shields
Super Mega Raids have a different battle mechanic from ordinary Mega Raids. When the boss becomes enraged, it can create shields that reduce damage from normal attacks. A Mega-Evolved Pokémon from your battle party is sent in automatically if one is not already battling. Its next attack is strengthened to break a shield. Each trainer can break only one shield, which is why Pokémon GO recommends at least eight trainers for these encounters.
Bring Mega Tyranitar, Mega Gengar, Mega Garchomp or another ordinary Mega Evolution to handle the shield phase. Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon and transformed Ditto cannot break these shields. Your Primal Pokémon can still deal excellent damage, but it does not fill the shield-breaker role. If your party keeps struggling during the enraged phase, ask whether enough teammates actually brought eligible Megas before changing every counter.
For Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters, include an ordinary Mega Evolution instead of blindly copying a six-Pokémon damage ranking. Include your active Mega and organise the group so there are enough separate trainers to break shields. See Pokémon GO’s official Super Mega Raid rules for the full battle mechanic.
Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters: How many players?
Pokémon GO’s Super Mega Raid rules recommend a group of at least eight trainers, all with a Mega-Evolved Pokémon available. This is a recommendation rather than a proven minimum for Mega Chandelure specifically, but the shield mechanic makes trying to bring fewer players especially risky. Assemble a full group, heal between attempts and preset your party ahead of time. The October raid schedule can help plan other raids that day.
For Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters, prepare at least one party with six effective attackers, then bring replacements if you expect several runs. A team of properly powered-up Hydreigon, Kyogre, Tyranitar, Rhyperior or Ground attackers will generally be more useful than Pokémon with neutral damage and much higher CP. Check the boss’s Charged Attack once raids begin and change your team if needed.
Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters: Which Mega to bring?
Primal Kyogre is a compelling Water choice, while Primal Groudon attacks through Ground damage. Neither Primal Pokémon can break the special shields in Super Mega Raids, so use a conventional Mega Pokémon in your party for that role. Mega Tyranitar is useful on a Dark or Rock team. Mega Gengar offers excellent Ghost damage but can be vulnerable to the boss’s own Ghost moves. You can choose only one active Mega Evolution at a time, so pick the Mega that best suits your team and group.
For Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters, damage alone is not enough: every player should have a conventional Mega Pokémon that can break one shield. When the event opens, consider your fellow trainers’ Mega choices and the boss move set. If you lack a suitable Mega Evolution, work on unlocking one before joining: ordinary attackers can’t break the enraged boss’s special shields.
Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters: Where to find raids and enter
Super Mega Raids can appear at selected Gyms rather than every raid Gym. The official Pokémon GO map and Campfire can show upcoming raids and nearby meetups. For local entry, you can spend Link Charges or a Premium Battle Pass. For a remote Super Mega Raid, you need both Link Charges and a Remote Raid Pass.
You can collect Link Charges by opening Gifts, completing weekly challenges and checking into eligible Campfire events. Check your Link Holder before heading out to raid. Check your Link Holder before joining a raid; our Link Charges guide explains the different entry requirements. Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters only help if you’ve brought the required raid resources and teammates.
Shiny rewards and Super Max upgrades
Mega Chandelure’s Raid Day includes an increased chance of encountering Shiny Chandelure after successful raids, without a published exact percentage. Using the best Pokémon GO Chandelure raid counters gives you more opportunities to win, not a guaranteed Shiny. The event has its own rules for free Raid Passes and research, described in the Raid Day article.
Mega Chandelure can use the additional Charged Attack Ominous Wind+ while Mega Evolved, even before it reaches Super Max. Higher Mega Levels can increase its power. That is a separate mechanic from beating the raid boss. See our Mega Chandelure Super Max guide and Chandelure evolution guide for those systems.
For the October 31 Raid Day, power up suitable attackers, check their moves, make room for rewards and join an organised group during the 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local window. Match your final team to the live boss moves rather than assuming one preset lineup is always best.
