Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max became available on October 31, 2026, when Mega Chandelure debuted in Super Mega Raids. The fourth Mega Level requires additional Energy after reaching Max, and the Pokémon also gets a new additional Charged Attack, Ominous Wind+.

You don’t need to complete that fourth upgrade just to use the move. The Halloween raid event starts the progression, while a worldwide challenge can boost Mega Chandelure’s attack power and Super Max CP during November. Here’s how the requirements and dates fit together.

Release date and eligibility

Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max becomes available on Saturday, October 31, 2026. This is the same day Mega Chandelure debuts in Pokémon GO’s Super Mega Raids, between 2pm and 5pm local time. Chandelure caught after these battles has Mega Level 1 already unlocked. That helps with the early progression but doesn’t instantly give you Super Max. An existing Chandelure is also eligible if you have the Mega Energy to begin Mega Evolving it.

Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max: Reach Max Mega Level first

Before you can access Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max, raise one Chandelure through the existing three Mega Levels: Base, High and Max. Repeated Mega Evolutions build the earlier progression, but the level belongs to the individual Pokémon you’re training. Pick the Chandelure whose IVs, Shiny status and battle moves suit your plans. Don’t expect Mega Evolving another Chandelure to transfer the full progress to your favourite; check that individual Pokémon’s Mega Level before spending more Energy.

Spend additional Chandelure Mega Energy

Reaching Max unlocks the chance to build the fourth tier, but Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max isn’t earned through the usual repeated Mega Evolutions alone. You must spend extra Chandelure Mega Energy to power up beyond Max. Pokémon GO hasn’t announced the exact Energy cost of that final progression in the October 14 event notice. Super Mega Raids on October 31 provide a starting opportunity to collect Energy, so plan multiple successful raids if you want a supply for both the initial transformation and later upgrades.

Use Ominous Wind+ before Super Max

Ominous Wind+ is an additional Ghost-type Charged Attack unlocked for Mega Chandelure from October 31 while it is Mega Evolved. You do not need Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max to try it. You also don’t have to replace Shadow Ball or Overheat, because this move belongs to the extra Mega attack system rather than a regular TM slot. Once your Chandelure isn’t Mega Evolved, the normal form doesn’t keep Ominous Wind+ as an ordinary selectable Charged Attack.

Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max: Ominous Wind+ power in raids and PvP

The published starting power is 50 in Trainer Battles and 145 in Gyms and Raids. In Trainer Battles, the move also has a chance to boost the user’s Attack and Defense by one stage. Ominous Wind+ power rises with Mega Level, making Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max an offensive improvement as well as a progression target. Those values aren’t a complete per-level damage table. The official announcement has not specified how much power the attack gains at each intermediate level.

Global Challenge from October 30 to 31

Players around the world can contribute raid victories to a Global Challenge starting October 30 at 5pm PDT and ending October 31 at 8pm PDT. Each completed tier improves the strength of the later Mega Chandelure bonuses. This is a shared community challenge, not individual Timed Research with a required checklist of set numbers of raids. Pokémon GO hasn’t published the required totals for each tier, so the eventual bonuses depend on the community’s progress during that window.

November 2 to 15 Ominous Wind+ and CP bonuses

The unlocked bonuses run from November 2 at noon PST to November 15 at noon PST. Mega Chandelure with Mega Level 1 or higher can gain a higher Ominous Wind+ base power. A Pokémon that has reached Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max can also receive a CP boost. Both depend on how many community tiers were completed. Pokémon GO specifically says the Ominous Wind+ challenge power increase does not apply in GO Battle League. There is no guaranteed maximum reward tier before the challenge takes place.

Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max: Normal Super Max benefits

Outside the temporary challenge, Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max has the stronger bonuses associated with the fourth Mega Level. These include improved catching rewards for Ghost- and Fire-type Pokémon, enhanced Candy and Candy XL opportunities, and a shorter free Mega Evolution rest period, reaching 24 hours. Those benefits make an upgraded Chandelure useful for collecting matching types even if you aren’t using it in raids. They sit alongside the Mega’s battle strength and the special Ominous Wind+ attack.

Which Chandelure should you invest in?

If you already have a strong or Shiny Chandelure, keeping it can make more sense than automatically investing in the first raid-caught one. The raid encounter’s Level 1 unlock is useful, but a high-IV attacker may be a better long-term choice. Pokémon GO Mega Chandelure Super Max needs a significant progression commitment after Max, so decide whether you’re chasing Ghost-type raid strength, Fire- and Ghost-type catching bonuses or simply the Shiny Mega appearance. To use Ominous Wind+ on October 31, an eligible Mega Evolution is enough.
