Enshrouded Hotfix 1.0.0.2 arrived on October 16, 2026, with fixes for broken world settings, missing characters after save migration and several crashes introduced or discovered around Enshrouded’s 1.0 launch. Keen Games lists the update as build 1269579.
There is an important catch for anyone missing a character: the hotfix prevents certain corrupted saves from crashing the game, but it doesn’t restore those characters yet. Here’s what was fixed, which crashes were addressed and what still needs another update.

Enshrouded Hotfix 1.0.0.2 fixes world settings
The October 15 hotfix accidentally introduced a bug preventing players from changing their world settings. Keen Games had been repairing session lists in the multiplayer join menu, and that adjustment caused the new problem. Enshrouded Hotfix 1.0.0.2 fixes world configuration again.
If the settings are still locked, check that you’re running build 1269579 before trying anything else. Reopen the game and return to the same world settings screen. The official patch doesn’t say you need to delete a world, reset difficulty or begin a fresh character to regain that menu.
Why are characters still missing after save migration?
During the 1.0 conversion, loading a corrupted character save could crash the game. Enshrouded Hotfix 1.0.0.2 stops that crash by not migrating those corrupted characters for now. You may still see a missing character in the selection menu even though the game itself loads successfully.
Keen Games says it is working on a later fix that can repair and migrate affected characters together. That fix is not part of version 1.0.0.2. Avoid deleting old saves, creating replacement characters over important data or treating the absence as proof of permanent deletion. Our missing saves guide explains how to check the new Local and Steam Cloud tabs.

Fast travel, glider and multiplayer crash fixes
The Enshrouded Hotfix 1.0.0.2 crash fixes include travelling or landing with a glider in a world full of enemies, survivors, mannequins and other entities. The update also improves Adventure Share subscriptions and fixes crashes triggered while browsing shared adventures or starting a download.
Several issues were less predictable: water simulation could sometimes crash, servers could fail when large numbers of enemies fought at once, and rare crashes were linked to the Twitch server, full backpacks and exiting the game. Keen Games lists other rare crash fixes too. If your game still closes unexpectedly, the patch doesn’t rule out a separate cause.
Why does Enshrouded look covered in grey fog?
Some Nvidia players saw an unusually dense grey fog, especially inside Hollow Halls. Enshrouded Hotfix 1.0.0.2 fixes that rendering issue. If Hollow Halls suddenly looked washed out, install the hotfix before changing your display settings.
The factory-placement fixes are separate: they target crashes when building factories and incorrect menus when interacting with them. There’s also a language correction for several skill descriptions, with further description work promised for a later patch.

Does Hotfix 1.0.0.2 restore missing saves?
No. The Enshrouded Hotfix 1.0.0.2 migration change removes one crash condition but deliberately leaves affected corrupted characters out of the new save list until a future fix. If your save is simply under the other Local or Steam Cloud tab, you can find it without waiting for another patch.
For other remaining crashes, note what you were doing, whether you were playing solo or on a server, and the version number. Keen Games directs unresolved bugs to its support team. The October 16 notes don’t specify a date for the next corrupted-character repair.
