Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES adds four companion activities to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2: Today’s Record, Gossip Quest, Play Ocarina and a daily trivia quiz. They’re part of the Nintendo Switch App on your phone, so the main game and its on-console menus remain separate.
The remake arrives on 5 November 2026. The companion lets you look back at what you achieved, hunt for places shown in picture clues, play or share ocarina music and test your Zelda knowledge. Nintendo Switch Online is not required for ZELDA NOTES.
What features are included in Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES?

| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Today’s Record | Shows daily accomplishments and battle statistics in chronological order. |
| Gossip Quest | Uses picture hints to send you to locations in Hyrule, awarding music-score points. |
| Play Ocarina | Lets you play a phone-based virtual instrument, follow scores and share music through QR codes. |
| Ocarina of Time Quiz | Offers a daily trivia attempt from over 2,000 questions, with rupee-paid retries. |
Each feature has its own purpose. Today’s Record looks back at your progress, Gossip Quest adds location hunts, Play Ocarina handles the music and the Quiz is for trivia. All four are designed to accompany the game while Link’s main adventure stays on Switch 2.
Today’s Record in Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES
Today’s Record puts your daily accomplishments in chronological order. Nintendo specifically mentions statistics such as the number of enemies you’ve defeated, so you can look back over a session without trying to remember every little thing you did.
Think of it as a diary of your time in Hyrule rather than a checklist for the next dungeon. If you want to know where the story is heading, the remake has a separate feature called Threads of Time on the console itself.
How Gossip Quest works in Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES
Gossip Quest gives you a picture clue on your phone and sends you looking for the corresponding location in Hyrule. Finding the place earns points towards music scores for Play Ocarina. It turns noticing buildings and landmarks into a challenge of its own.
This is different from the Gossip Stones in the original game. It’s an extra ZELDA NOTES activity, and its clues are tied to real locations in the remake. Our Gossip Quest guide covers the location-hunt system and the music-score reward.
Play Ocarina: virtual music and QR sharing
Play Ocarina makes your compatible phone a virtual instrument. You can play notes freely on the touchscreen, follow a guided score, listen to one played automatically or create an original score and share it through a QR code.
Gossip Quest points contribute towards the music scores used here, giving the two features a link. If you enjoy making music, though, you can also use the virtual ocarina freely. Read our Play Ocarina guide for the confirmed ways to use it.
Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES Quiz and rupee retries
The Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES quiz draws from over 2,000 questions, including images and text. You can play the daily quiz once, then use rupees you’ve earned in Ocarina of Time for additional tries. The currency comes from the adventure itself.
The quiz is part of your phone’s ZELDA NOTES activities, not a shop or minigame inside the castle town. Our Quiz and Rupee Retries guide explains the daily limit, question bank and extra attempts.
Do you need Nintendo Switch Online for Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES?

No. A Nintendo Switch Online membership isn’t necessary for ZELDA NOTES. You need the Nintendo Switch App, a compatible smart device, a Nintendo Account and a persistent internet connection for the companion service, plus the Switch 2 remake for its game-linked activities.
The Nintendo Classics version of the original N64 game has different subscription arrangements. If you’re comparing the two editions, see our Nintendo Switch Online guide for the distinction.
Is Threads of Time part of Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES?
No. Threads of Time lives inside the Switch 2 remake, not the phone app. It shows your progress through the story, your next objective and a tapestry that fills in as the adventure unfolds. Today’s Record, by contrast, looks back at your daily accomplishments.
Link’s ocarina controls are also part of the main game, with button input or songs recognised by the Switch 2 microphone. The Play Ocarina feature on your phone is a different instrument with guided music, automatic playback and QR-code sharing.
Does Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES include Breath of the Wild’s features?
The Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom have their own ZELDA NOTES functions. They include features such as Voice Memories, with Autobuild sharing available in Tears of the Kingdom. Those functions are not automatically part of Ocarina of Time’s four announced activities.
For Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES, Nintendo has specifically highlighted Today’s Record, Gossip Quest, Play Ocarina and the Quiz. Keep that list separate from the features in other Zelda games when choosing which phone companion options you’ll actually use.
When is Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES available?
Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES support arrives with the Switch 2 remake on 5 November 2026. You’ll then be able to open the game’s companion features through the Nintendo Switch App and follow the controls shown there.
Whether you prefer exploring, trivia or music, the app gives you something to do alongside the remake without replacing Link’s story. If you just want to play the adventure, the phone features remain separate from the console’s main game.
