Minecraft Switch 2 editions come in Standard, Deluxe Collection and Ultimate Collection. All three include the native game, Vibrant Visuals and the Super Mario Mash-Up. The higher tiers add Marketplace packs, cosmetics and Minecoins, not better graphics.

Minecraft launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27, 2026. Standard is sold digitally and physically, while the larger collections are digital. Here’s what the extra money buys and how existing Switch owners can upgrade.

The Minecraft Switch 2 editions share the same base game. Deluxe adds three Marketplace add-ons and 700 Minecoins. Ultimate has five add-ons and 1,000 Minecoins in total.

DeluxeThree add-ons and three cosmetics700
UltimateFive add-ons and five cosmetics in total1,000 total

Ultimate’s 1,000 Minecoins are the total, not another 1,000 on top of Deluxe’s 700. That’s 300 more Minecoins, two more add-ons and two additional cosmetics.

What is in Standard Edition?

Standard is the full native Minecraft experience. It includes Vibrant Visuals for better lighting, fog and shadows, plus the Super Mario Mash-Up with themed locations, 40 player skins and 15 music tracks.

The new physical Switch 2 edition is Standard. You don’t need Deluxe or Ultimate for Vibrant Visuals, world transfers or ordinary survival gameplay. Split-screen and some Marketplace content don’t support every enhanced visual effect.

What is in Deluxe Collection?

Deluxe adds Celebration Food, Rescue Dogs and Plenty O’Blocks, along with three Character Creator items: Nether Portal Wings, Pig Pal Hat and Three Villagers Coat. Its currency bundle is 700 Minecoins.

If you’re comparing Minecraft Switch 2 editions for their extras, Deluxe sits in the middle: three add-ons, three cosmetics and 700 Minecoins. The native game’s graphics and gameplay are the same as Ultimate.

What is in Ultimate Collection?

Ultimate adds Decocraft and Weapons + Tools to the three Deluxe add-ons. It also adds Exploding Creeper Coat and Jockey Fan Hat to the three earlier cosmetics.

Ultimate includes five add-ons, five Character Creator items and 1,000 Minecoins. All Minecraft Switch 2 editions use the same base game and graphics. Ultimate simply bundles more optional content.

Which edition should original Switch owners claim?

If you bought Minecraft digitally on the first Nintendo Switch, you can claim Switch 2 Standard free in the UK and most other territories until January 31, 2027 at 9 AM PT. Eligible digital owners can also buy Deluxe or Ultimate at a discount.

If you own only the original physical Switch cartridge, the free digital Standard entitlement doesn’t apply. Instead, open the old Minecraft game on Switch 2 to find a promotional offer for the digital Ultimate Collection at a discount. See our physical upgrade guide and free digital upgrade guide for both paths.

Are the included Minecoins cross-platform?

The bundled Nintendo Minecoins must be spent within Nintendo’s Minecraft ecosystem under the October 27 wallet changes. Newly purchased currency on Nintendo can’t be spent in Marketplace on Xbox, PlayStation or PC; newer non-Nintendo Minecoins likewise can’t be spent on Switch 2.

The Minecoins included with Nintendo bundles must be spent in Minecraft on Nintendo hardware. That matters when comparing Minecraft Switch 2 editions if you usually shop on another device. Older currency in the Legacy Wallet retains its own cross-platform rules. Our Minecoins guide explains the difference.

Which Minecraft Switch 2 editions are worth buying?

Choose Standard for Minecraft, Vibrant Visuals and Mario. Choose Deluxe for the three named add-ons, three creator items and 700 Minecoins. Choose Ultimate for all five add-ons, five items and 1,000 Minecoins.

Check the eShop price on your account before paying. All Minecraft Switch 2 editions support moving your old worlds, so you don’t need a bigger bundle just to recover a save. Our world-transfer guide covers that separately.
