HYPERyuki multiplayer supports up to four players in local split-screen races and up to eight players online, according to Nintendo’s October 2026 Indie World announcement. Acclaim also confirms you can race online with up to seven friends. HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate is coming to Switch 2 in early 2027.

There is another way to join a session: Nintendo has confirmed local GameShare and online GameShare through GameChat. That is separate from the eight-person online race limit. It is worth distinguishing competitive multiplayer, shared-screen racing and GameShare before assuming every mode or device works in the same way.

For local play, Nintendo says up to four racers can compete using split-screen on a single system. For online play, the maximum announced player count is eight. The game is described as competitive downhill racing, with tricks helping replenish the boost meter as you try to reach the finish ahead of other players.

HYPERyuki multiplayer is competitive snowboarding, not a four-player co-op story campaign. You can race alongside friends, but the publisher hasn’t announced shared campaign missions. Split-screen also does not establish that every participant can use just one Joy-Con 2.

Four-player local split-screen explained

Local split-screen means several players share the same Switch 2 console and the display is divided so they can control their own riders. Nintendo confirms a four-player maximum for this mode. This is the couch-racing option for friends in the same room. You’ll need enough compatible controllers, although the final combinations haven’t been detailed.

Nintendo hasn’t given a split-screen frame-rate target. What HYPERyuki multiplayer does confirm is four riders sharing a Switch 2 and one screen.

Eight-player online races

Acclaim says you can race online with up to seven friends, which gives eight competitors including yourself. Nintendo uses the same total of eight players in its showcase recap. These are online racing limits, not permission for eight people to join an ordinary GameShare session.

HYPERyuki multiplayer has a useful twist in Race mode: tricks refill your boost meter, so taking a risk can pay off with more speed. Cross-platform PC lobbies and ranked playlists haven’t been confirmed for Switch 2.

How does local GameShare work?

Nintendo announced local GameShare for the Switch 2 version. With GameShare, an eligible Switch 2 console hosts a supported game session and nearby receiving players can participate while the share is active. It does not gift them a permanent copy of the game or mean every receiving player has an independent purchase.

The HYPERyuki multiplayer announcement says the game supports this feature, but Nintendo can apply GameShare session limits separately from a game’s ordinary player capacity. It would therefore be misleading to promise eight GameShare recipients just because an online race supports eight people.

Online GameShare via GameChat

Nintendo also confirms online GameShare via GameChat. The host must use a Nintendo Switch 2, and participating online players need compatible Switch 2 systems, internet access and Nintendo Accounts. Nintendo’s online GameChat requirements also include Nintendo Switch Online membership, subject to its published membership rules.

GameShare doesn’t give another player a permanent copy. Their access ends with the hosted session, making it different from buying the game or joining a regular online lobby.

Does HYPERyuki have crossplay?

The Nintendo announcement does not establish crossplay with the PC release, so cross-platform lobbies should not be promised. Similarly, GameShare over GameChat is a Nintendo feature, not evidence of Steam crossplay. The confirmed modes are split-screen and online competitive racing on Switch 2.

Our HYPERyuki game-modes guide explains Challenge, Race and Chill. For HYPERyuki multiplayer, the confirmed caps are four local racers and eight online when the game arrives in early 2027.
