Hello Kitty Party Land upgrade is not available for players who own the original Nintendo Switch version. Nintendo offers neither a free upgrade nor a paid Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. If you want the native Switch 2 game, you must buy that version separately, even if you already purchased the original.

You can, however, keep playing the original Switch release on Switch 2 through backward compatibility. That option does not turn it into the native game, but it means you do not have to repurchase Party Land simply to use your newer Nintendo console.

No. Both editions launched on October 29, 2026, as separate products. Nintendo’s store explicitly says there is no Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. The Hello Kitty Party Land upgrade answer is the same for physical game cards and digital purchases. Ownership of the original release does not grant the native software.

This is different from a game whose publisher sells a small upgrade download. There is no pack to redeem in Nintendo eShop and no bundle you can buy to convert your existing game. The native Switch 2 edition is its own purchase.

Can Switch owners pay to upgrade?

No paid Hello Kitty Party Land upgrade option exists either. Buying the Switch version first and then moving to Switch 2 does not create a discount or cross-edition entitlement. If you specifically want the native release, buying that version from the start avoids paying for two copies.

For an existing owner, backward compatibility is the alternative. The Switch edition runs on original Switch hardware and Nintendo lists it as supported on Switch 2. You continue using the Switch version rather than converting it into another product.

How to play your Switch copy on Switch 2

Use the Switch game you already own. For a digital purchase, access your entitled Switch software from the relevant Nintendo Account on a compatible Switch 2. For a physical copy, use the original Switch game card in a Switch 2 that accepts it. Nintendo’s compatibility listing supports the original game.

This process is not a Hello Kitty Party Land upgrade. The title still behaves as the original Switch release, with its own software identity and save data. A native Switch 2 game, by contrast, cannot be played on an original Switch.

Can you move your saved game to the Switch 2 edition?

Nintendo states that save data cannot be shared between the original Switch and native Switch 2 editions. Moving a compatible Switch-version save onto a newer console does not convert it for the native release. Nintendo Save Data Cloud does not change that cross-version restriction.

If you have already played hours of Party Land on original Switch, keep using the Switch software through backward compatibility when you move hardware. There is no Hello Kitty Party Land upgrade process that changes your existing progress into a different edition’s save file.

Which edition should you buy?

For an original Switch, Switch Lite or Switch OLED, choose the Nintendo Switch edition. If you only own Switch 2 and want its native release, choose the Switch 2 edition directly. If your household owns both generations, the original Switch software is the flexible option because it can be used on compatible systems from both.

Both editions advertise more than 45 minigames, 16 playable Sanrio partners and local or online multiplayer for up to four people. Nintendo UK’s current download listings show 3.1 GB for Switch and 3.0 GB for Switch 2. Those figures alone do not establish differences in frame rate or graphics.

What if you have the wrong edition?

Check the game card’s platform label or the digital listing before buying another copy. An original Switch game is already compatible with Switch 2. If you need the native version, it is a separate purchase. The Hello Kitty Party Land upgrade restriction applies whether you bought Standard, Day 1 or Premium.

The simple answer is that a Hello Kitty Party Land upgrade does not exist. Your original Switch game can run on Switch 2, but it remains the Switch release, with no cross-edition save sharing and no discounted route into the native version.
