The 2.4 version of Genshin Impact is close to its end, and the Special Program Livestream for 2.5 has revealed not only its release date, but also the future banners, the next updates, new story quests, enemies, and many more.

We also had the debut for the previously leaked Genshin Impact animation. As speculated, it was a short teaser for the new update, which featured all of the main characters of the update, as well as the recently-revealed Kamisato Ayato, an upcoming character.

And as an extra treat, we also received exclusive information for the upcoming extended region of Liyue, The Chasm. The new area is now confirmed to be arriving in the update following 2.5.

The 2.5 version “When The Sakura Blooms” will be arriving on February 16, bringing the new (and long-awaited) 5-star character Yae Miko. The Catalyst Electro foxy lady will be the first banner of the update, being the sole banner in the first half of the update.

And during the second half, characters introduced in 2.1 will be making their return. Raiden Shogun and Sangonomiya Kokomi will have their first reruns during 2.5, matching their appearances in the new story quests.

Speaking of which, we’ll also receive Act II for the Raiden Shogun Story Quest, which will be a prerequisite for unlocking Yae Miko’s own quests. From the trailer, the quest will also be required to unlock the new Weekly Boss, similar to how Azdaha is unlocked through Zhongli’s quest.

Meeting new enemies

The Raiden Shogun herself is the new Weekly Boss. She is presumably being fought during Ei’s new story quest and will be a harder and more extreme version of the previous fights we had with her. No more information was given to avoid spoilers.

We also have new enemies found in Enkanomiya, the Shadow Husks. These soldier-like enemies have three different variants, being a new threat in the water-deep region.

Events during 2.5

The version will be packed with new events. The main attraction is the Enkanomiya event, Three Realms Gateway Offering, which will award us an exclusive catalyst focused on Kokomi.

The Divine Ingenuity is a puzzle-filled event similar to the Windblume Festival, where we’ll have to complete the exploration challenges to complete the domain. But now players are able to create their own challenge domain, similar to Super Mario Maker.

Other events include the Of Drink A-Dreaming, a drinking brewing event in Mondstadt and the return of the combat event Hyakunin Ikki, which allows us to use some exclusive characters in combat domains. The Overflow Mastery (double Talent books) event is also back.

The Chasm release date and information

We also had a sneak peek at the next area for Genshin Impact, The Chasm. While it will not introduce the Dendro element, as it was previously speculated, we finally got some information on the area and some of the enemies dwelling in it.

The Chasm, found next to Liyue, will be finally released during the update following 2.5, making it accessible for us in late March/early April.
