Fortnite Chapter 2 map evolution shows the story of the island across every original season of Chapter 2. Fortnite rarely keeps its terrain unchanged for long, and this chapter is no exception: new landmarks, seasonal themes and story events gradually turned the map into something that players from its opening season might barely recognise.

Open the galleries below to see original launch-version maps where verified images are available. The dates and patch numbers under each image help distinguish the map at the beginning of a season from a later update. For a wider view of the series, start with our complete Fortnite map evolution hub.

How Fortnite Chapter 2 changed the Battle Royale island

The Apollo island launched with rivers, beaches, and new towns, then changed as the Agency’s spy bases, the giant flood, Marvel locations and the exposed Zero Point appeared. The Chapter 2 map is a good example of a single island gaining a completely different identity as the seasons passed.

The pictures above are labelled by season-opening patch. For example, a mid-season location might be absent from the launch image even though it was an important part of the season. Check the version number when comparing these maps to memories or screenshots from later updates.

Fortnite Chapter 2 map evolution: What changed between seasons?

The most extraordinary shift came with the flood in Season 3. The opening v13.00 map shows roads and towns submerged, so later pictures from the same season can look very different as the water drains. Stark Industries in Season 4 and the sandy Zero Point region in Season 5 also substantially changed the layout.

How the Chapter 2 Season 3 flood receded

The launch-day picture shows water covering much of Apollo. The v13.20 and v13.30 snapshots make it possible to see more land returning as the floodwater dropped. Open each one for a larger view; they are different stages of the same Season 3 map, not three separate seasons.

What made the Chapter 2 flood different?

The flooded Season 3 island was more than a new colour on the map. Large portions of the roads and lower neighbourhoods were underwater, and much of the terrain people had learned in the two previous seasons was hidden. Floating structures and new ways to move across the flooded sections altered familiar routes. When the water retreated, new spaces became usable over time.

This is also why the early Season 3 image is worth comparing with pictures from later patches. Both show real versions of Apollo, but one captures the flood near its height and the other shows a recovering island. The flood was a changing environmental event, not a single permanent biome.

When Stark Industries appeared in Chapter 2 Season 4

Stark Industries wasn’t on the original v14.00 Season 4 map. Compare the island at launch with the v14.10 map to see the enormous new landmass and Marvel-themed destination introduced during the season.

The Agency, Stark Industries and the Zero Point

Season 2 placed the Agency at the heart of the map and added dramatic bases at the coast and elsewhere. Season 4 took a different approach with a Marvel-themed story, with Doom’s Domain replacing Pleasant Park and Stark Industries arriving later. The giant elevated landmass around Stark Industries was easy to recognise even from the Battle Bus.

Then Season 5 altered the centre again: exposed sand spread around the Zero Point and new landmarks appeared around the desert. Season 6’s Spire continued that transformation before alien activity and the Cubes shaped the final months of Chapter 2.
