Fortnite Golden Apple healing now restores 40 effective health instead of the old 50 HP. Any healing that would take you past maximum health spills into Shield. Epic confirmed the change in its November 1, 2026 Treasure Hunters update notes.
Golden Apples still give you low gravity, and that effect now lasts slightly longer. Epic also says the item appears a little more often in Produce Boxes. Here is what the revised healing does, where to search and which details have actually been confirmed.
How much does Fortnite Golden Apple healing restore?
A Golden Apple grants 40 effective health points. Unlike the older 50 HP effect, this amount can contribute to both your HP and Shield. Once you reach maximum health, any excess recovery goes into your Shield instead of disappearing.
That does not mean Fortnite Golden Apple healing provides 40 HP plus 40 Shield. The total healing value is 40. How it is divided depends on your starting bars and the item’s normal rules. Check your health and Shield after using it instead of relying on an untested example.
The previous 50 HP figure is out of date for Treasure Hunters. It belongs to an earlier version of the item, before Fortnite v43.00.
Where do Golden Apples spawn in Treasure Hunters?
Search Produce Boxes. Epic says the chance of finding a Golden Apple in them has increased slightly with this update. Produce Boxes are different from ordinary weapon chests, so you do not need to search for an unusual golden treasure chest to get the fruit.
A higher chance does not mean every box contains one. Epic has not announced a percentage or named a guaranteed location. Check the Produce Boxes you pass while looting buildings, but carry other useful healing supplies if you do not find one.

How long does the Golden Apple low-gravity effect last?
Epic confirmed a slightly longer duration, but did not publish an exact number of seconds. The low-gravity effect changes how your character moves through the air for a limited time after eating the apple. It is not a permanent buff.
Fortnite Golden Apple healing and low gravity both come from the same item. You can take advantage of that movement effect while recovering, but do not plan a risky jump around an unverified timer. The effect is temporary, so pay attention to where you will land.
A low-gravity weekly challenge is also due later in the week. Its live requirements will need checking before claiming that the Golden Apple automatically satisfies it.
Is a Golden Apple different from an ordinary Apple?
Yes. The Golden Apple is a special consumable that restores up to 40 effective health and applies low gravity. A regular Apple does not gain those effects because the golden version was adjusted. You should also distinguish it from the Golden Firework, which is a Gizmo reward associated with the Sprite Mastery Track.
If you find a Golden Apple in a Produce Box, consider your current health, Shield and inventory space. You can use it for recovery and a temporary movement benefit. Do not assume a single apple is enough to fill both bars.
Is the Golden Apple worth eating at full health?
Fortnite Golden Apple healing can put recovery into Shield if your health is already at its maximum, thanks to the overflow rule. That makes the item useful in situations where the old HP-only description would not apply. It still has a 40-point total, not an unlimited Shield refill.
The HP-to-Shield overflow is the key change. The total is still 40 points of effective recovery, so a Golden Apple won’t replace a full heal or a large Shield Potion.

Fortnite Golden Apple healing restores 40 effective health with HP overflow going to Shield. Low gravity lasts a little longer, and the item is a little more common in Produce Boxes. Those are the three changes officially confirmed for Treasure Hunters.
For related looting changes, ordinary chests now refill during matches. That is a separate rule. Epic has not said Produce Boxes have the same refill behaviour, so don’t treat it as a way to farm Golden Apples.
