Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 map shows apollo and its original towns during Fortnite’s original 2019–2021 run. Chapter 2 Season 1 introduced Apollo, a completely new island after the black hole ended the original chapter. Instead of stepping back into Tilted Towers and Dusty Depot, players explored Sweaty Sands, Misty Meadows, Slurpy Swamp, Holly Hedges and the waterways separating the island’s main regions.
The most striking feature was how many waterways ran through the map. Rivers, bridges and the new motorboats changed the routes between towns. Pleasant Park and Retail Row returned among the named landmarks, giving long-time players a few familiar places in an otherwise unfamiliar landscape. This gallery uses a specific historical patch image, so changes made later in the season may not yet be visible.

The patch number is part of the picture’s history. Epic regularly updated named locations and the surrounding terrain during seasons, not only on the day a new season launched.
New and changed locations on the Chapter 2 Season 1 island
Slurpy Swamp contained an industrial complex built around Slurp, while Misty Meadows sat by the lake in the south. Sweaty Sands became a coastal destination with a beach and buildings. Weeping Woods made the central forest important, especially for quieter landings and gathering materials.
Unlike the original island’s ten-season progression, this map started almost from scratch. It was the baseline for everything that happened to Apollo over the next eight seasons, so its patch v11.00 screenshot is especially useful when comparing later changes.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 map compared with the previous season
The Chapter 1 Season X map was crowded with Rift Zones and returning locations. Chapter 2’s first season replaced those with a new, cleaner layout, new towns and the island’s signature rivers.

Why the Apollo island mattered to Fortnite history
The Chapter 2 Season 1 layout reset the expectations of players who knew every inch of the original island. Apollo placed wide rivers between towns, with bridges and roads becoming important travel routes. The motorboat also made much more sense on this watery island than it would have on the older map. Slurpy Swamp, Misty Meadows and Sweaty Sands became recognisable names without relying on Tilted Towers to anchor every match.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 map: What changed next?
Season 2 introduced the Agency at the centre, alongside several villain-and-hero-themed headquarters. Those places gave the island a very different set of high-value landing areas.
Looking back at the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 map is more interesting when the context is clear: the launch screenshot records the island on day one, while the chapter’s story could make major changes over the following months. You can compare all eight season maps in our Chapter 2 map evolution gallery.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 map: Historical map or Chapter 2 Remix?
This is the original Chapter 2 map, not a screenshot from the later Chapter 2 Remix event. Remix revisited familiar locations with its own presentation and schedule. If you’re researching the original island, follow the version number shown here rather than assuming a later recreation looks exactly the same.
For a wider history, the Fortnite map evolution hub connects this map to Chapters 1 through 7. The Chapter 1 gallery shows the island that preceded Apollo, while the Chapter 3 collection follows what came after.
