Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5 Map: Paradise Palms and the desert biome

Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5 map shows paradise palms and the desert biome on the original Battle Royale island. Fortnite’s southeast changed dramatically when a desert replaced much of the old swampy terrain. Paradise Palms and the surrounding roads, mesas and dry landscape made Season 5 one of Chapter 1’s most distinctive visual shifts. The old map is worth revisiting because it shows what players could actually land at during this period, not what later Fortnite OG recreations brought back.

Below is the real Chapter 1 Season 5 island map, labelled with its patch number. You’ll also find the major named locations, how the terrain changed and what to look for when comparing this season with the maps before and after it.

What changed on the Chapter 1 Season 5 island?

Paradise Palms brought a desert town into the southeast, replacing the region around Moisty Mire. Lazy Links appeared where Anarchy Acres had been, giving the map an entirely different-looking northern golf course. Rifts also became central to how players moved around.

The desert was more than a single new named point. It altered the colour and terrain of an entire corner of the island, making a trip from Retail Row toward the southeastern roads feel noticeably different.

What locations were added in Chapter 1 Season 5?

Paradise Palms and Lazy Links were important parts of this season’s map story. Season 4 had a crater but no desert biome. Season 5 introduced the desert, Paradise Palms and Lazy Links while keeping familiar destinations such as Tilted Towers and Dusty Divot elsewhere on the island.

The southern desert later became important again when Rift Zones brought Moisty Palms to the island during Season X.

Use the expandable comparison pictures below to see the change rather than relying on memory. The map shown is the later v5.41 version, so it captures the established desert landscape rather than just the first few days of the season. The patch labels help make sense of why an image from early in a season might look different from one taken several updates later.

Why the Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5 map looks so different

The Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5 map brought one of the original island’s biggest biome changes. The southeast transformed from the wet terrain around Moisty Mire into a desert with new roads and Paradise Palms. That shift was visible as soon as players left the Battle Bus, and the dry hills changed the look of the approach to the southeastern towns.

The Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5 map also gave players Lazy Links in the north, on land previously occupied by Anarchy Acres. Together, the desert and golf course made Season 5 feel like an expansion of the island’s identity rather than simply another set of buildings.

Looking for the island before Paradise Palms existed? That’s the Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 1 map, with Moisty Mire, Anarchy Acres and Dusty Depot still in their original form. The Season 5 picture above shows how those parts of the island changed in 2018.

The screenshot here comes from the original Chapter 1 release. Fortnite OG may bring back recognisable landmarks, but its event schedule and exact terrain can differ from what players saw the first time. If you are trying to identify an old clip, the season and patch number matter more than the fact that a familiar town has returned.
