Fortnite Chapter 1 Season X map is the original island from the last season of Chapter 1, when rift zones, tilted town and moisty palms changed the way players explored Fortnite Battle Royale. The final original Chapter 1 season brought earlier locations back in unusual forms. Instead of simply rebuilding the old island, Season X introduced Rift Zones that could change both the appearance of an area and the gameplay rules inside it.
This historical picture is taken from update v10.40. You can see the complete island below, then open the previous season’s map alongside it to compare the locations. The chapter history is separate from modern Fortnite OG, which revisits many of these places years later.

Fortnite Chapter 1 Season X map: Biggest changes
Tilted Town appeared where Neo Tilted had stood, with restrictions on building and harvesting. Moisty Palms merged desert and swamp ideas and allowed players to turn into props by crouching. Retail Row returned with Cube Monsters, and Gotham City temporarily transformed another familiar region.
Season 9 imagined a high-tech future, while Season X reintroduced older and altered versions of beloved POIs. The changes were staggered across updates rather than arriving all at once, so the map looked different at several points in the same season.
Fortnite Chapter 1 Season X map: New and changed locations
The places associated with this season include Tilted Town, Moisty Palms, Retail Row, Gotham City, Starry Suburbs and Greasy Grove. The v10.40 image shows a late Season X state, with multiple Rift Zones in place. It is not the map from the first day of Season X and not a screenshot from the 2026 Fortnite OG return.
Those differences are easiest to spot when you examine the map itself. Some are entire terrain changes, while others are a distinctive building or a named location where players began landing more often.

A map captured later in the season can also include updates that weren’t visible during its opening week.

How the Season X Rift Zones changed over time
Season X introduced its returning and remixed locations across successive patches. These three versions show the original island changing before The End.
What happened after the Fortnite Chapter 1 Season X map?
The original island disappeared at the end of Chapter 1 during The End event. Chapter 2 then introduced Apollo, an entirely new place to explore. The complete Chapter 1 map gallery has all ten original seasons in chronological order, making it easy to follow the changes without confusing the first release with the newer Fortnite OG recreation.

Fortnite Chapter 1 Season X map: Why archived versions can differ
These historical map images show the island at a particular game update, rather than one unchanging layout for the whole season. The v10.40 image shows a late Season X state, with multiple Rift Zones in place. It is not the map from the first day of Season X and not a screenshot from the 2026 Fortnite OG return. If you’re comparing an old stream or clip with the image above, look at the patch and the specific locations rather than assuming a mismatch means the archive is wrong.
