FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking launches in Japan on October 13, 2026, letting players on Elemental, Gaia, Mana and Meteor join the same Duty Finder and Party Finder pools. Those four logical data centres previously limited most group matchmaking to players within each individual centre.
It’s not just a dungeon-queue change. Ranked Crystalline Conflict, cross-world Linkshells, friend messages and World Visit are also affected, and a few existing group names may get number suffixes. The initial rollout only applies to Japan, with Europe, North America and Oceania waiting for later updates.
FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking launch date and available data centres
The Japan rollout starts after Patch 7.57 maintenance on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Square Enix scheduled the worldwide outage to finish at 11 a.m. BST, equivalent to 7 p.m. JST, although it may end earlier or later. FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking cannot be used before the Japanese Worlds reopen.
The participating logical data centres are Elemental, Gaia, Mana and Meteor. They’re all part of Japan’s physical data centre. The new system lets their players match with each other without first transferring between logical data centres, but it doesn’t link them with Chaos, Light or any North American World.

How cross-data-centre Duty Finder and Party Finder work
Duty Finder and Party Finder now search or recruit across the Japanese physical data centre. You still choose your normal dungeon, trial, raid or roulette, and its role and item-level requirements still apply. FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking broadens the eligible player population rather than introducing a separate duty or overriding existing unlocks.
- Log in to a World on Elemental, Gaia, Mana or Meteor after Patch 7.57 maintenance.
- Open Duty Finder and select the content you want to queue for. Japanese matching can now include all four logical centres.
- For organised groups, open Party Finder, create a listing or browse recruitment as usual.
- Invite friends from other Japanese logical data centres through the normal party-invite tools, or join their eligible recruitment listing.
- Enter the duty when the group meets the normal participation requirements.
You don’t have to complete a special quest to activate FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking, and there is no new ticket or subscription upgrade. Party Finder recruitment remains subject to any conditions the organiser sets. Having a larger pool also doesn’t guarantee a faster queue for every activity or role.
What else changes with FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking?
| Feature | Before | After Japan rollout |
|---|---|---|
| Duty Finder | Same logical data centre | Shared Japanese physical data centre |
| Party Finder | Same logical data centre | Shared Japanese physical data centre |
| Ranked Crystalline Conflict | Hosting logical data centre | Shared Japanese physical data centre |
| Cross-world Linkshells (CWLS) | Same logical data centre | Shared Japanese physical data centre |
| Fellowships and PvP Teams | Same logical data centre | Shared Japanese physical data centre |
| Friend tells and party invites | Same logical data centre, outside duties | Across Japan’s logical data centres |
| Free Company chat | Same logical data centre | Across Japan’s logical data centres |
Ranked Crystalline Conflict no longer draws exclusively from the hosting logical centre in Japan. PvP Teams, Fellowships and Cross-world Linkshells also expand across the same physical data centre. Existing Friend List online status already covered that wider Japanese region; the change extends tells and party invitations between those logical centres outside duties.
Free Company chat now reaches across Japanese logical data centres, but joining a Free Company still requires your Home World. Regular linkshells also remain Home World-only. FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking won’t let you move your house, register a retainer sale on a visited World or collect Delivery Moogle letters anywhere other than your Home World.

How to use World Visit between Elemental, Gaia, Mana and Meteor
With FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking, you no longer need the old Data Centre Travel route to visit another Japanese logical data centre. A new dropdown appears under the existing Visit Another World Server option at aetherytes in Limsa Lominsa, Gridania and Ul’dah.
- Go to a main aetheryte in Limsa Lominsa, Gridania or Ul’dah.
- Select Visit Another World Server.
- Use the new logical data centre dropdown to choose Elemental, Gaia, Mana or Meteor.
- Choose the destination World and confirm the visit.
- Continue playing under the ordinary World Visit restrictions on your destination World.
Square Enix states that the separate Data Centre Travel system will no longer handle movement between those four Japanese logical centres. Travel from the Japan physical data centre to Oceania remains supported through Data Centre Travel, so the older system isn’t being abolished altogether.

Why did my CWLS, PvP Team or Fellowship get a number added?
To support FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking, Square Enix is combining Japanese Cross-world Linkshell, PvP Team and Fellowship records into shared regional databases. If two groups on different logical data centres had identical names, one or more names may receive a number suffix when maintenance finishes.
This renaming doesn’t apply to characters, retainers, Free Companies or ordinary linkshells, whose names are already handled per World. Check your existing CWLS or Fellowship membership before creating a replacement just because a new number appears in the group name.
What if you’re in more than eight Cross-world Linkshells?
The maximum remains eight active CWLS per Japanese physical data centre. Some players joined more than eight by travelling between logical centres previously. Square Enix says the extra memberships won’t be immediately deleted, but they become inactive and cannot send or receive messages.
Use the Organize CWLS function, introduced in Patch 7.5, to leave or disband unneeded cross-world linkshells and make room for the ones you want to keep. The button appears when the consolidated total exceeds the eight-channel limit. FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking merges their regional access, not the number of active CWLS slots.
Does same-region matching change the Market Board or housing?
No. Housing and retainers remain Home World systems, and marketboard listings must still be made on your Home World. You can buy from a Market Board on a visited World as before. Delivery Moogle items must still be collected at home, too.
The new rules are aimed at making parties and social groups easier to organise. FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking doesn’t remove the World restrictions attached to every other part of the game, and you shouldn’t move Worlds just because the party system has become easier to use.
When will FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking arrive in Europe and North America?
Square Enix has not announced dates for Europe, North America or Oceania. It plans to confirm stability in Japan before introducing FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking in other physical data centres. October 13 is not a global launch date for this feature, even though the Patch 7.57 maintenance itself affected all Worlds.
Chaos and Light in Europe, Aether, Crystal, Dynamis and Primal in North America, and Materia in Oceania must use their current matchmaking and travel rules until a later official announcement. The exact order and dates of those future rollouts are unconfirmed.
Missing same-region matching options after Patch 7.57?
- Check that your character is on the Japan physical data centre, not an EU or North American one.
- Make sure the October 13 maintenance has actually ended and Patch 7.57 is installed.
- Use the normal Duty Finder or Party Finder for matching; there is no additional mode to enable.
- For another Japanese logical centre, use the new World Visit selector at a main city aetheryte.
- For an inactive CWLS, open Organize CWLS if you have more than eight memberships.
FFXIV Same-Region Matchmaking gives Japanese players a much larger shared party pool without making everyone transfer Worlds. The next thing to watch is Square Enix’s report on stability, followed by confirmed dates for the other regions.
