ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode arrives on October 21, 2026, giving players a new way to experience one of The Elder Scrolls Online’s original Wolfhunter dungeons without joining a four-player group. Officially called a Solo Dungeon, this version lets you explore Moon Hunter Keep alone or with an NPC companion, follow its story at your own pace and take on encounters designed for a single player.
What makes ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode particularly interesting is that it isn’t limited to an easy story experience. ZeniMax has introduced optional difficulty modifiers called Meted Misfortunes, allowing players to increase the challenge in exchange for additional rewards. There are also new collectibles, a Monster Set and Undaunted Crests to earn, making the dungeon worth revisiting even if you’ve completed the original version before.
ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode Release Date

ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode launches on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, alongside Season Two: Echoes of Skyrim.
The original Moon Hunter Keep group dungeon becomes free for all ESO players on October 19, when the Wolfhunter DLC moves into the base game. This also includes March of Sacrifices, which is receiving its own Solo Dungeon version.
Players who previously needed to purchase Wolfhunter will therefore be able to access both original dungeons without buying the DLC. The new Solo Dungeon versions become available two days later.
How to Start ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode
Moon Hunter Keep is located in Reaper’s March. Once Solo Dungeons launch on October 21, you’ll be able to access the new version through the world map or by travelling directly to the dungeon entrance.
To enter:
- Open the world map and navigate to Reaper’s March.
- Locate Moon Hunter Keep on the map.
- Select the dungeon and choose the Solo option instead of the normal group version.
- Alternatively, travel to Moon Hunter Keep’s physical entrance and select the Solo Dungeon option when interacting with it.
- Enter alone or summon an NPC companion if you’d prefer some assistance.
You won’t need to join a Dungeon Finder queue or assemble a group with other players.
The Solo Dungeon retains the setting and story of Moon Hunter Keep while adapting the experience for individual characters. This gives you time to listen to dialogue, explore the keep and work through encounters without relying on other players.
ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode Difficulty and Meted Misfortunes
The main difficulty system in ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode is called Meted Misfortunes. These are optional modifiers that make enemies and encounters more challenging.
ZeniMax has established four difficulty levels, depending on how many Misfortunes you activate.
| Active Misfortunes | Intended difficulty |
|---|---|
| 0 | Comparable to ordinary overland content |
| 1 | Comparable to a normal solo arena |
| 2 | Comparable to a veteran solo arena |
| 3 | Harder than comparable existing solo experiences |
To select your difficulty, interact with the Meted Misfortunes selection near the beginning of the dungeon. The system was demonstrated using a collection of Undaunted weapons that opens the modifier selection interface.
You can choose to leave every Misfortune disabled for the easiest experience or activate additional modifiers for a harder run.
The modifiers are cumulative, and increasing the difficulty improves your opportunities to obtain certain rewards.
If your main goal is to follow the story and experience Moon Hunter Keep without a group, start with zero Misfortunes. You can attempt the more demanding versions after learning the encounters.
Can You Use Companions in Moon Hunter Keep Solo?
Yes. ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode supports NPC companions, allowing you to bring one along rather than completing the entire dungeon without assistance.
This is particularly useful if you prefer playing with a companion who can provide healing, support or additional damage.
However, bringing a companion doesn’t turn the dungeon into regular group content. You’re still playing the Solo Dungeon version rather than the original four-player encounter.
Players who enjoy completely solo challenges can leave their companion behind and attempt the dungeon without assistance.
ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode Rewards
There are several rewards exclusive to the Solo Dungeon version, including the Mylenne Moon-Caller collectibles and equipment.
The confirmed rewards include:
| Reward | How to obtain |
|---|---|
| Mylenne Moon-Caller Trophy | Complete Solo Moon Hunter Keep |
| Mylenne Moon-Caller Bust | Complete the Solo Dungeon with at least one Misfortune active |
| Mylenne Moon-Caller Mask style | Defeat Vykosa the Ascendant in Solo Moon Hunter Keep |
| Mylenne Moon-Caller Shoulder style | Purchase from Veya Thenim using Undaunted Crests |
| Mylenne Moon-Caller Monster Set | Earn through the Solo Dungeon equipment reward system |
| Undaunted Crests | Earn by completing Solo Dungeon content |
| Lone Wolf title | Complete Moon Hunter Keep with all three Meted Misfortunes active |
The trophy and bust are furnishing collectibles, while the mask and shoulder styles are cosmetic outfit rewards. These shouldn’t be confused with the equippable Mylenne Moon-Caller Monster Set.
The new rewards give players several reasons to return, whether they’re collecting furnishings, improving their equipment or working towards the hardest Solo Dungeon achievements.
Mylenne Moon-Caller Monster Set
ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode introduces the Mylenne Moon-Caller Monster Set, a new two-piece equipment set associated with the solo version of the dungeon.
Unlike the traditional Vykosa Monster Set from the original group dungeon, Mylenne Moon-Caller belongs to the new Solo Dungeon reward system.
The set focuses on offensive effects involving Bleed damage and Stamina recovery, making it particularly relevant to builds that regularly use class or Werewolf abilities.
Its appearance can also be collected through the corresponding outfit style pages.
As the Solo Dungeon hasn’t launched on live servers yet, final equipment values and drop rates should be taken from the October 21 release rather than assuming every PTS value remains unchanged.
How to Earn and Spend Undaunted Crests
Undaunted Crests are a new currency associated with Solo Dungeons. You’ll earn them through Solo Dungeon activities and can spend them on rewards sold by Undaunted merchants.
Veya Thenim is the relevant merchant for the new solo rewards and can be found at Undaunted Enclaves in:
- Wayrest
- Mournhold
- Elden Root
Her available rewards include the Mylenne Moon-Caller Shoulder style, alongside equipment containers and other Undaunted items.
Completing the dungeon at higher difficulty levels provides additional reward opportunities, although the exact live reward quantities should be checked when the feature launches.
This gives players another way to collect certain equipment and cosmetic rewards rather than relying entirely on boss drops.
How to Get the Lone Wolf Title in Moon Hunter Keep
One of the most notable achievement rewards from ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode is the Lone Wolf title.
To earn it, you must complete the Moon Hunter Meted Masochist achievement, which requires finishing the Solo Dungeon with all three Meted Misfortunes active.
This is the highest available difficulty setting and is intended for players looking for a demanding solo challenge.
The title was added to the achievement’s rewards during Update 51 PTS testing, making it one of the clearer incentives for completing Moon Hunter Keep at maximum difficulty.
You can still earn the standard completion rewards without attempting this challenge, so there’s no requirement to activate all three Misfortunes simply to experience the dungeon’s story.
Does Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode Count Towards Group Achievements?
Solo Moon Hunter Keep has its own achievements, separate from those associated with the original four-player dungeon.
Completing the Solo Dungeon doesn’t automatically satisfy the requirements for the original Veteran Moon Hunter Keep achievements or group-specific challenges.
This matters if you’re trying to unlock older Wolfhunter achievements, as you’ll still need to meet their normal requirements in the appropriate group version.
The new Solo Dungeon achievements instead focus on completing its encounters, tackling additional challenges and overcoming the Meted Misfortune difficulties.
Is Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode Free?
Yes. Moon Hunter Keep becomes part of ESO’s base-game content when Wolfhunter is made free to all players on October 19, 2026.
Its Solo Dungeon version arrives with Season Two on October 21, so players won’t need to purchase the old Wolfhunter DLC just to access the dungeon.
The Solo Dungeon is a separate gameplay option rather than a replacement for the original. Players can still experience Moon Hunter Keep as normal group content, while those who prefer playing alone can select the new version.
ESO Moon Hunter Keep Story Mode offers a welcome alternative for players who have wanted to experience the Wolfhunter storyline without the pressure of a group dungeon. With an NPC companion, adjustable difficulty and encounters designed around solo play, it’s accessible to players who simply want the story while still providing a challenge for experienced adventurers.
The October 21 release also introduces rewards worth pursuing beyond the first completion, including the Mylenne Moon-Caller collectibles, the new Monster Set and the Lone Wolf title. Whether you choose zero Misfortunes or attempt all three, Moon Hunter Keep will finally offer a dedicated solo experience rather than requiring you to tackle its original group mechanics alone.
