EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0 is due in mid-November 2026, and EA has laid out five gameplay changes it intends to make. Fullbacks should hold their line more reliably, attackers should make better runs, and defending a rush towards goal straight from kick-off should become less frustrating. Player switching after a loose ball is also getting attention.
EA shared the plans in its October 28 Gameplay Developer Notes after studying the first month of FC 27 matches. This is a preview of the next balance update, not a list of fixes that have already gone live. Here’s what each change means on the pitch.
EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0: all five gameplay changes

The headline changes in EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0 are about positioning and control. EA isn’t replacing the attacking or defending systems. It wants to cut down on situations where players move in ways that don’t match what’s happening in the match.
| Area | What EA plans to change |
|---|---|
| Fullback positioning | Fullbacks should stay in line with the defence more consistently while still tracking genuine attacking runs. |
| Offside awareness | AI attackers should recognise the defensive line better and time their runs to stay onside. |
| Attacking AI | Teammates should move decisively into available space, particularly near the penalty area. |
| Kick-off goal reduction | The defensive line should hold a higher position after kick-off to make direct attacks harder. |
| Loose-ball switching | Automatic player selection should more reliably pick the closest player after certain tackles, headed passes and missed shots. |
Fullbacks dropping too deep and keeping attackers onside
One of the clearest problems EA is addressing involves a fullback dropping behind the rest of the defensive line. When that happens, an attacker who would otherwise be offside can suddenly make a legal run. Most of your defence can be positioned correctly while one player changes the whole picture.
With EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0, fullbacks are intended to keep their shape more consistently. EA says they will still track a run when there’s a genuine threat, but they shouldn’t retreat unnecessarily as often. The developer is aiming for fewer of those moments rather than claiming they will disappear entirely.
EA is also refining offside awareness so AI-controlled attackers recognise where the defenders are and choose better-timed runs. These are two separate adjustments: one improves the shape of the defending team, while the other improves decisions by players trying to get behind it.
Attacking AI should offer better support around the box
EA has spotted another familiar frustration: you work the ball towards the penalty area, look for a passing option, and your teammates don’t move into the space in front of them. The update is intended to make those supporting runs more decisive, especially around the edge of the box.
That doesn’t mean attackers will automatically create a chance every time they see space. The aim is better movement when a team builds an attack. Our triggered runs guide covers how to send teammates forward yourself, while our attacking spatial awareness guide explains the launch mechanics.
Kick-off goals should be harder to score
EA identified occasions when the defending team’s line dropped too deep immediately after kick-off, opening a route towards the box. It’s the kind of problem that can make a direct attack feel harder to defend than it should.
In EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0, the line is set to hold a higher position after the restart. An opponent pushing straight upfield should meet defenders sooner. EA calls this kick-off goal reduction, but it’s changing defensive positioning, not turning off the ability to score from kick-off.
Player switching after tackles, headers and missed shots
Automatic switching is frustrating when the ball breaks loose and you take control of someone who isn’t nearest to it. EA has named the moments it wants to improve in EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0: after a teammate completes a slide tackle, after a headed pass, and after a shot misses the target.
These are targeted switching fixes, not a rebuild of every switching decision. For players who rely on quick changes of control to recover possession, the intended result is a more predictable choice of player when the ball changes direction unexpectedly.

Other gameplay issues EA is investigating
Three more issues are on EA’s radar, but they are ongoing investigations rather than confirmed fixes in EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0. They concern the pressure created by very high defensive lines, collisions between players with different sizes and physical attributes, and the accuracy of particular shot types in relation to goalkeeper positioning.
EA is still testing those areas. They aren’t part of the five November changes it has announced, so this preview doesn’t treat them as problems the patch will resolve.
Why FC 27’s first balance changes are arriving now
EA says it deliberately held back from early gameplay tuning so players had time to adjust to FC 27’s mechanics. Its match data shows players taking fewer shots but scoring a greater share of them, completing a higher proportion of passes, and succeeding with more tackles as they get used to manual defending.
The developer has also seen a wider range of formations and player roles than in FC 26, with relatively little variation in win rates between formations. Those are trends EA has observed since launch, not changes being introduced by EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0. The month of match data, player feedback and testing has helped EA decide where to make smaller adjustments without disrupting the rest of the game.
When will EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0 be released?
Mid-November 2026 is the release window in EA’s October 28 notes. There is no precise day or time in that announcement. Version 1.1.0, released on October 27, contained no gameplay balance or tuning changes, so the November improvements shouldn’t be mistaken for part of that earlier patch.
When version 1.2.0 arrives, the final patch notes will give the definitive fix list. For a comparison with an earlier live update, see our FC 27 Title Update 1.0.4 patch notes, which covered a different set of fixes.
The changes in EA FC 27 Title Update 1.2.0 are aimed at moments players will recognise: a fullback ruining an offside line, a teammate refusing to run, a soft kick-off defence and a poor switch after a loose ball. They’re targeted improvements, and EA has explained exactly what it’s trying to improve.
