Dune Awakening Game Pass launches on September 22, 2026. Microsoft has confirmed Dune: Awakening for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass, with access across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, supported handhelds and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The Dune Awakening Game Pass release arrives with the same major September version that adds full single-player, custom difficulty and the conclusion of Book One. Xbox players also get Play Anywhere support, which is important because progression can be shared between Xbox console and the Microsoft Store PC version.

Dune Awakening Game Pass becomes available on September 22. The five-day September 17 Head Start is tied to Deluxe and Ultimate purchases rather than the standard Game Pass entitlement, so Game Pass access itself begins with the full console release.
| Game Pass access | Status |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S | Yes – September 22 |
| Windows PC | Yes – PC Game Pass / supported Game Pass tiers |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | Yes |
| ROG Xbox Ally / supported handheld access | Yes |
| Xbox One native version | No native Xbox One release announced |
Which Game Pass tiers include Dune: Awakening?
Microsoft’s September Game Pass announcement lists Dune Awakening Game Pass for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass. It does not list the game under Game Pass Essential in the current announcement.
The exact subscription that makes sense depends on where you play. PC-only players can use PC Game Pass, while Ultimate includes the broader cloud and console benefits. Always check the current Microsoft tier description before subscribing because Game Pass plan names and benefits can change.
Does Dune Awakening support Xbox Play Anywhere?
Yes. The Dune Awakening Game Pass version supports Xbox Play Anywhere. Funcom and Xbox say progression can carry between Xbox Series X|S, the Windows Microsoft Store version, ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Cloud Gaming when you use the same Xbox ecosystem account.
Xbox and Microsoft Store PC also support cross-play with each other. That should not be confused with full cross-platform play: Funcom says broader cross-play between different console platforms and other PC ecosystems is planned for after launch rather than available on September 22.
Does Game Pass include single-player?
Yes. Dune Awakening Game Pass is the full base game, including the new single-player mode introduced in Update 1.5. The solo mode contains the full Arrakis experience, story, Deep Desert, Landsraad and rewards, with three difficulty presets and extensive manual customization.
Our Dune Awakening single player guide explains the separate-character rule and custom settings, while the Update 1.5 hub covers all of the September changes.
Is the Filmic Archive DLC included with Game Pass?
The current Dune Awakening Game Pass announcement is for the base game. Filmic Archive is a separate $9.99 DLC launching September 22, so do not assume the optional film-inspired pack is included simply because the base game is on Game Pass.
If you want the contents before buying it, see our Dune Awakening Filmic Archive DLC guide.
Can Game Pass players buy the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition?
Dune Awakening Game Pass does not prevent you from buying a higher edition or add-on, but the subscription listing itself is for access to the base game. Funcom said Game Pass members could receive a 20% discount on Deluxe or Ultimate if they wanted the September 17 Head Start. With the standard Game Pass release arriving on September 22, the practical reason to buy an upgraded edition becomes its included extras rather than simply getting the base game through the subscription.
What is new in the September Game Pass version?
Dune Awakening Game Pass arrives after more than a year of PC updates and alongside Update 1.5. New Xbox players therefore start with the full Book One story, optional PvP, the rebuilt Landsraad, additional locations and Testing Stations, base reconstruction, vehicle recovery, specialization and augmentation systems, plus the new character-centred server flow.
Xbox Series X supports Performance mode at 60fps Dynamic 4K and Quality mode at 30fps Dynamic 4K, with higher native resolution and enhanced Quality visuals on Series X. Xbox Series S is supported, although the high-end rendering details differ by hardware.
