Dominus Gladiatus Steam Deck support is now confirmed on the main game’s Steam listing with a Steam Deck Verified rating. Brain Seal added full gamepad and native Steam Deck controls to the demo on October 7, but that separate demo listing still shows its compatibility status as Unknown.
The difference is important if you’re downloading the free trial. Valve has assessed the full game’s Steam Deck compatibility, but the demo still has its own Unknown rating. Both are genuine Steam listings, and the developer’s controller updates apply to the demo.
Dominus Gladiatus Steam Deck support: Is the full game Verified?

The full game’s Steam page is marked Verified, Valve’s highest compatibility category. The demo page still says Unknown, which means Valve has not assigned that separate product a compatibility result. Unknown does not mean Unsupported.
| Product | Steam Deck status |
|---|---|
| Dominus Gladiatus main game | Verified |
| Dominus Gladiatus Demo | Unknown |
Brain Seal made the demo work with a gamepad in October, so the Unknown label isn’t proof that it won’t launch on Deck. It simply hasn’t received the same assessment as the full release.
Which demo patch added gamepad support?
On October 7, Demo Patch #6 added full gamepad controls and native Steam Deck support to the trial. Brain Seal described it as the first public version of the new controls and asked players to report any problems. That was a substantial change for anyone who tried the demo earlier.
Patch #6 also introduced a difficulty choice for new games, the Ordinator for Exhibition Matches and clearer equipment tooltips. These changes make it easier to manage fighters and understand their weapons without relying on a mouse.
The Dominus Gladiatus Steam Deck support improvements continued on October 16. Patch #7 tightened controller prompts and menu navigation and fixed inspection and camera issues. It did not give an official battery-life or frame-rate target, so this guide won’t invent one.
Dominus Gladiatus Steam Deck support and controller buttons
One useful shortcut from Patch #7 is RT: pressing the right trigger in the Ludus now unpauses the game. The update also addressed controller inspection and navigation bugs. For other actions, follow the button prompts in the version you’re playing.
The Steam main-game page lists full controller support, including Xbox controllers and DualShock and DualSense controllers over USB. The USB-only wording on those PlayStation entries shouldn’t be turned into a promise of universal Bluetooth support.
If you switch between a handheld and a keyboard, September’s update also added the 2 and 3 keys for game-speed controls. That doesn’t mean the Deck uses the same bindings: its gamepad prompts are the ones to follow.
How to try the demo on Steam Deck
You can test the controls now. Open the Steam page for Dominus Gladiatus, choose the free demo and install it on your Deck. The demo arrived August 18 and has since received the October gamepad updates. It’s enough to try the Ludus and arena interface for yourself.
Try opening the Slave Market, equipping a fighter and preparing an arena match. You’ll quickly find out whether the text is comfortable to read and whether the prompts suit you, even though the demo itself hasn’t been rated Verified by Valve.
Does the Steam Deck version share saves with Xbox?
No cross-platform save transfer has been announced. Steam’s full-game listing advertises Steam Cloud, but that does not mean you can move progress between Steam and Xbox. The Xbox version is also scheduled for November 5 on Xbox One and Series X|S, with a separate console store purchase.
The full game launches November 5 on Steam and Xbox One and Series X|S. A Steam Deck compatibility badge doesn’t tell you whether Xbox purchases or saves carry across. Steam Cloud and Xbox cloud saves are separate platform features.
For Dominus Gladiatus Steam Deck support, the answer is straightforward: the November 5 PC game is Steam Deck Verified, and the separately listed demo has native gamepad controls but an Unknown rating. You can download the demo to try those controls now.
