Dominus Gladiatus Slave Market is where you buy new gladiators for your school. Brain Seal overhauled the market in the September 6 demo patch, changing recruits’ Health values, adding a paid refresh and making trained fighters available later in the campaign.
A high Health stat looks appealing, but it’s only one part of the decision. Keep enough money for equipment and training, and look at talents that could help a fighter earn coins or stay healthy through several matches.
Dominus Gladiatus Slave Market: Starting recruits and prices

Brain Seal’s September 6 demo patch set the first three available recruits at the following Health values and prices. These are the developer’s figures for that demo build, not a price list for every later version.
| Starting Health | September demo cost |
|---|---|
| 85 | 35 coins |
| 100 | 50 coins |
| 115 | 65 coins |
A previous August update set the demo’s starting budget at 120 coins. The three September recruits would cost 150 coins together, so with that budget you’d have to choose rather than buy the lot. Check the actual starting coins and prices in your version before making the first purchase.
How does Dominus Gladiatus Market Refresh work?
Market Refresh lets you spend coins to replace the available recruits immediately. If you don’t like your options, you can pay to see new fighters instead of waiting for the market to change on its own. The game displays the refresh cost before you commit.
A countdown, added in September, shows when new fighters will arrive as Ludus time passes. Since October 7, recruits who remain unsold for more than 12 days are also replaced automatically. So the Dominus Gladiatus Slave Market changes even when you leave it alone.
From Day 20, the September demo could offer trained gladiators as well as fresh recruits. If you lose an experienced fighter, this can be a way to strengthen your roster without starting every replacement from scratch.
Does Kepri make recruits cheaper?
Yes, in the September demo patch. Kepri is one of the six Domini you can choose as your leader, and the patch gave Kepri a 15% reduction in slave purchase prices. It is a useful advantage when buying replacements, though that documented percentage could be rebalanced for the finished game.
Kepri’s discount can make a real difference if you’re rebuilding after losing fighters. Still, that perk is one of several Dominus abilities. Choose a leader for the campaign you want to play, rather than treating the cheapest recruit as the automatic winner.
Dominus Gladiatus Slave Market: Charismatic, Harden and Veteran bonuses
Charismatic is a talent added in the August 30 patch. Fighters with it receive additional coin rewards from arena matches. The September 17 update changed reward reports to show that bonus separately from the base payout, making it easier to see what Charismatic contributes to your finances.
Harden arrived in the same patch and grants immunity to Fatigue-based injuries in arena fights. It doesn’t mean complete protection from every injury or death, but it can be valuable on a fighter who is likely to compete often.
Veteran bonuses were explained in the August 23 demo update. After seven victories, a gladiator could become a Veteran and choose a permanent Health or Damage bonus. That seven-win requirement is a recorded demo rule, not a guarantee about how the completed game will be balanced.
When a recruit catches your eye, compare their talent, temperament and equipment needs as well as Health. A promising fighter isn’t much use if you can’t afford to train them or give them enough recovery time between battles.
Dominus Gladiatus Slave Market: Selling gladiators and equipment
Selling fighters is handled from the Dominus tab, not the Armory, following the September 17 update. The Armory is for selling equipment. If you’re clearing space or raising money, double-check which sale you’re making, because losing a trained fighter is a bigger decision than selling spare gear.
The Procurator provides another way to manage income. The August 30 patch replaced randomly assigned contracts with a choice of contracts, letting you decide which opportunity suits your current school and roster.
For the Dominus Gladiatus Slave Market, the best purchase is the one your school can afford to train, equip and keep fighting. Use refreshes when you can spare the coins, and keep an eye on the trained fighters who start appearing later in the demo.
