Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters now stack to 99 after Patch 3.2.4, released on 28 October 2026. Before the update, each Splinter took up its own stack. Blizzard raised the limit in Build #74043 for all platforms, reducing the inventory space needed to carry duplicates.
If your Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters still sit in separate stacks, start by checking your installed game version and whether the items have the same name. Carrying a stack isn’t the same as equipping its power: your character still follows one Prime Evil path at a time.
Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters: the new 99-item stack limit

You can now keep up to 99 matching Prime Evil Splinters in one stack. That’s the entire item-specific change in Blizzard’s October 28 notes. The rest of Patch 3.2.4 covers general stability, visual and interface improvements.
This is an inventory improvement, not a power rebalance. Blizzard didn’t announce higher Splinter drop rates, more damage or an extra active power slot in 3.2.4. Our Season 15 patch notes cover that change alongside the earlier October 14 fixes.
Which Prime Evil Splinters stack to 99?
There are three types of Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters: Splinter of Terror from Diablo, Splinter of Destruction from Baal and Splinter of Hatred from Mephisto. Each is a separate item, so Terror and Destruction can’t merge into the same stack.
| Splinter | Prime Evil | Activities affected |
|---|---|---|
| Terror | Diablo | Helltide and Infernal Hordes |
| Destruction | Baal | Undercity and Lair Bosses |
| Hatred | Mephisto | The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons |
All three also affect the Tree of Whispers. It’s worth keeping spare Splinters when you switch between endgame activities, but the bigger inventory stack doesn’t let you activate all three Iconic Powers together.
Why are Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters not stacking?
Update Diablo IV first. The 99-item cap arrived in Build #74043 on 28 October. Close the game, check for updates in Battle.net, Steam or your console’s game manager, then relaunch. Older builds won’t have the new limit.
Compare the item names next. Two Splinters of Terror are the same type. A Splinter of Terror and a Splinter of Hatred aren’t. If you’re looking at the power-selection interface instead of the inventory, it’s normal to see a limit of one because only one Prime Evil power can be active.
If two identical items still refuse to stack after you’ve updated, check their names again and record what happens. Include your platform and game build when reporting the behaviour to Blizzard. Patch 3.2.4 doesn’t describe a separate server-wide stacking bug.
Do Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters unlock extra powers?

No. Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters can be stored in larger stacks, but your character still bears a single Prime Evil’s Splinter for its Iconic Power and reputation track. That power also makes you more vulnerable to the associated Prime Evil.
You can change your choice. Once you’ve completed the seasonal questline, replay one of the largest Waking Nightmares to acquire another Splinter and switch paths. Our Shards of Evil guide explains when to change and how the different activities work.
Where can you get more Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters?
The Season of Hell’s Legacy questline introduces all three Prime Evils. You face Diablo beneath Tristram Cathedral, Baal at Arreat Summit and Mephisto in the Durance of Hate. After completing those encounters, the largest Waking Nightmares can be replayed on Torment difficulty for more rewards and a new Splinter choice.
For each path, see the Splinter of Terror, Splinter of Destruction and Splinter of Hatred guides. Those cover the activities tied to each Prime Evil and the benefits of switching.
Are Diablo 4 Prime Evil Splinters the same as Soul Splinters?
No. Soul Splinters are seasonal gems such as Anguish, Lies and Pain. You socket up to three among your jewellery slots for a bonus and drawback, then upgrade matching types through Amalgamation in the Horadric Cube. Patch 3.2.4’s inventory stack change doesn’t modify Soul Splinter sockets or crafting.
Our Soul Splinter farming guide covers those gems. Locked Prime Evil Powers are a different problem: Patch 3.2.3 prevents a questline lockout, but Blizzard’s recovery for characters already stuck requires another seasonal character in the same partition. Follow the steps in our Prime Evil Powers recovery guide.
