Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1 arrived on October 14, 2026 with important perk bug fixes, Killer movement corrections, a Wraith crash fix and new rules for ending Trials containing bots. Behaviour Interactive also explained how Halloween’s redesigned portal system operates.
This is a bugfix release after the larger 10.2.0 update. If you’re using Potential Energy, Shoulder the Burden, Decisive Strike or Hex: The Third Seal, several problems you might have noticed during matches should now be corrected. Here are the confirmed changes.
Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1 surrender rules
The last human Survivor can now choose Surrender if at least one bot is still in the Trial. Previously this was labelled Abandon. The Killer can also select End Trial when every remaining Survivor is a bot, without first putting those bots in the Dying State.
These conditions only apply to matches where players have been replaced by bots. They don’t introduce a vote-to-surrender feature when human teammates are still playing.
All Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1 perk fixes
| Perk | Fix |
|---|---|
| Potential Energy | Tokens now build correctly even when skill checks appear |
| Shoulder the Burden | Inconsistent Hook State display corrected |
| Decisive Strike | Triggers correctly while the Killer is falling |
| Hex: The Third Seal | Inconsistent activation repaired |
| Save the Best for Last (Keep Them Waiting) | Trickster no longer loses four tokens instead of two when Showstopper injures the Obsession |
The notes describe bug fixes, not new numerical perk buffs or nerfs. Shoulder the Burden’s change is particularly about the displayed Hook State; it isn’t a replacement of the perk’s underlying effect.

Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1 Killer changes
The Mastermind’s Virulent Bound has been adjusted to improve redirection, and a brief stop in velocity at the end of certain dashes is fixed. Power counters for Killers such as The Trickster and The Huntress now display zero when a stack is depleted.
Character fixes also cover Ghost Face reveals without sufficient visibility, Skull Merchant Drone placement, Xenomorph Flame Turret interactions, Demogorgon teleport visuals, Knight Guards getting stuck in pallets, The Dark Lord’s pickup animation and problems involving The Judgment and The First.
Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1 crash and map fixes
Behaviour repaired a crash that could occur in Trials featuring The Wraith and an issue that left Killers stuck with a third-person camera after latency problems. Bots also stop navigating towards the map’s centre when Exit Gates are powered.
Map repairs include Wreckers’ Yard, Disturbed Ward, Family Residence, Thompson House and Coal Tower. They address trapped pickups, hidden traps, misplaced tiles, movement blockers and disconnected pathfinding areas.
Audio issues involving Xenomorph tunnel exits, Trickster voices and The Judgment have been corrected. Interface fixes include missing Status Effects on Survivor portraits, perk and add-on searches, incomplete Rift Pass information and a persistent loading icon.
Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1 Halloween changes
Haunted by Daylight began on October 13. The former Void Tile isn’t accessible this year. Instead, Void Portals work in connected pairs. Opening a Void Rift creates another pair that remains available for the rest of the Trial. Survivors and Killers can travel through them.
Void Energy now activates event abilities directly, rather than being spent by crafting in the separate Void Realm. Survivors can collect substantial energy through portals but risk a Killer following them. Roaming Void Haunts chase Survivors and apply Hindered.

Survivors begin with Void Crystals for Smoke Bombs and remote Generator repairs. Killers can launch Void Haunts and use Empowered Breaks. Those temporary Halloween abilities don’t replace the regular perks.
How to install Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1
Check your platform’s update queue, download the latest Dead by Daylight build and restart the client if necessary. The October 14 fixes should be included in the current version. If you previously had a Wraith crash or Potential Energy issue, test the corrected behaviour after updating.
This patch doesn’t claim to fix every crash or connection issue, and its specific adjustments shouldn’t be confused with the earlier 10.2.0 mid-chapter changes.
Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1: what players should test
Survivors can check Potential Energy token gains during skill checks and the Hook State display after using Shoulder the Burden. Decisive Strike should activate when a Killer is falling. Mastermind players can test the Virulent Bound redirection, while Killers facing only bots can now finish their match without downing each one.
These are the confirmed fixes in Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.1. Refer to the official notes for individual map and animation bugs.
