Clash Royale Mastery still rewards players for using individual cards, but the system was materially reworked in May 2026. Old guides that promise the previous mix of Gems, Wild Cards and rarity-dependent rewards can now be misleading because those resources were redistributed into Collection Level milestones. Current Mastery is designed primarily as a Gold source alongside card-specific objectives and badges. That makes old reward tables especially misleading for anyone returning after the rework.
The tasks themselves were made easier, with lower requirements across many objectives and a clearer progression loop. Mastery now feeds Collection Level indirectly by giving players Gold to fund more upgrades, while Gems and Wild Cards come from the milestone structure. Knowing which modes count and what each task set pays makes it much easier to decide how to grind efficiently. Current Clash Royale Mastery progress is therefore more about efficient task completion and Gold than item variety.
How Clash Royale Mastery works now

Clash Royale Mastery unlocks at Arena 4. Open a card’s information panel and select Card Mastery to see its tasks and progress. The first task starts with wins, while later sets focus on damage or card-specific objectives.
Mastery progresses in Trophy Road, Ranked, Clan Wars, Events, Challenges and Classic Challenges. Friendly Battles and Private Tournaments are not included in Supercell’s current list of supported Mastery progression modes.
The live task structure gives Clash Royale Mastery a clear starting point. Supercell Support says the first task is shared across cards and takes three wins, while later tasks focus on damage or card-specific objectives and can have multiple progression levels. That means the first badge step is usually straightforward, but completing an entire card’s Mastery can demand a very different play pattern from simply winning three battles.
Current Clash Royale Mastery rewards
After the 2026 rework, Clash Royale Mastery pays 4,000 Gold per Task Set 1 task, 6,000 Gold per Task Set 2 task and 15,000 Gold per Task Set 3 task. Each set contains three tasks, although not every card has a third set.
| Task set | Reward per task | Tasks |
|---|---|---|
| Task Set 1 | 4,000 Gold | 3 |
| Task Set 2 | 6,000 Gold | 3 |
| Task Set 3 | 15,000 Gold | 3 where available |
Gems and Wild Cards that used to appear in Mastery moved to Collection Level milestones. That is why an old reward table can look richer in item variety while still being wrong for the live game.
What changed in the 2026 Mastery rework
Supercell reduced many objective requirements significantly. Hog Rider, for example, received large reductions across damage, tower-hit and siege-style tasks. The goal was to make Mastery more achievable while making Gold its clearer reward identity.
Existing progress was preserved during the update. If saved progress already exceeded a newly lowered requirement, the task completed and the reward became claimable.
The reward rework changed the reason to grind Clash Royale Mastery. Gems and Wild Cards moved into Collection Level milestones, while Mastery became a more consistent Gold source that helps pay for upgrades. Because the objectives were also reduced on many cards, progress made before the update was preserved and could immediately satisfy a newly lowered requirement if it already exceeded the new target.

How to complete Mastery tasks efficiently
Build around the objective without destroying the deck. Damage tasks progress faster when the mastered card survives and reaches its intended targets, while win tasks reward using a deck you can actually pilot. Events and Challenges can be useful because they let you work on tasks outside Trophy Road pressure when the mode counts.
Do not force eight unrelated Mastery cards into one deck. Completing one or two compatible Clash Royale Mastery objectives while still winning usually produces steadier Gold than turning every match into a collection of awkward task attempts.
Mode choice matters when working on Clash Royale Mastery because not every casual battle environment contributes. Trophy Road, Ranked, Clan Wars, Events, Challenges and Classic Challenges are listed as valid progression modes. A sensible grind therefore uses a mode where the card can still perform its normal job, rather than weakening a competitive deck just to force several unrelated Mastery cards into the same eight slots.
A good Mastery session also pairs cards with objectives that happen naturally in the same deck. Clash Royale Mastery becomes much slower when the player repeatedly sacrifices matches to force one awkward task, while compatible damage, win and card-specific objectives can progress during normal play. The Gold reward is useful precisely because it can feed back into upgrades, so there is little benefit in turning the grind into a string of avoidable losses.
Mastery and Collection Level
Clash Royale Mastery no longer drives account XP because XP and King’s Journey were removed. Its role is economic: Mastery Gold pays for upgrades, and upgrades directly raise Collection Level.
The current loop is therefore simple. Play cards to complete Mastery, use the Gold on useful upgrades, then claim Collection Level milestones that now contain many of the Gems and Wild Cards formerly associated with Mastery.
